Gamecity:Hamburg has expanded its operational team by filling three new positions in project management, communications, and event management. This expansion follows an increase in the initiative’s budget, which aims to strengthen the local games industry ecosystem and enhance the organization's ability to support Hamburg-based developers. By bolstering its internal resources, the initiative intends to develop new strategic initiatives and expand its existing event formats, such as the Gamecity Treff, which were previously limited in scope.
The new appointments include Dennis Schoubye, a former senior PR manager at InnoGames, who assumed the role of project manager in July 2019. He is joined by Anna Jäger, who focuses on communications, and René Leck, who oversees event management. Annika Heilmann continues to serve in a project assistance capacity. These personnel changes coincide with the transition of ownership to the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, a move designed to provide fresh momentum to the initiative’s networking and support activities.
Since its inception in 2003, the primary mission of Gamecity:Hamburg has been to foster the local games industry, improve visibility for regional stakeholders, and identify emerging trends. The newly formed team is tasked with updating and scaling the initiative’s offerings to reinforce Hamburg’s position as a leading national hub for the games industry. This strategic shift reflects a broader commitment to professionalizing support services for the local games sector, moving beyond small-scale operations to more comprehensive, industry-wide engagement.
