Riot Promotes David Mulhall Global Head of Esports Partnerships and Business Development

Riot Games has promoted David Mulhall to the position of Global Head of Esports Partnerships and Business Development. In this expanded role, Mulhall is tasked with overseeing the company’s sponsorship strategy across both global and regional levels. He will lead a dedicated team focused on acquiring new brand partners while managing existing relationships within the League of Legends Esports, Valorant Champions Tour, and Teamfight Tactics Esports ecosystems.

Mulhall, a twenty-year industry veteran, joined Riot Games in 2020. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in securing and expanding high-value sponsorship agreements with major global brands, including Mastercard, Red Bull, AWS, and HP, specifically through its OMEN and HyperX gaming lines. These efforts have reportedly generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the company. In his new capacity, he will continue to manage Riot’s long-standing partnership with the agency CAA Sports, which has supported the organization’s commercial initiatives since 2015.

The promotion reflects Riot Games' ongoing commitment to integrating commercial partners into its broadcasts and live events to enhance the overall player and fan experience. Prior to his time at Riot, Mulhall held executive roles in corporate partnerships with the Sacramento Kings and their NBA 2K esports team, as well as positions within the Australian sports industry, including the Wests Tigers and Supercars. This leadership transition underscores the company's focus on scaling its esports business through strategic, innovation-driven partnerships.
