The season introduces a new Championship Points system to determine qualification for the year-end Champions event.
Season Length. The 2025 VCT season is scheduled to run from January to October.
Riot Games has outlined its strategic roadmap for the 2025 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), focusing on global expansion, structural adjustments to the competitive ecosystem, and a refined tournament calendar. The primary objective is to enhance the professional circuit through international event hosting, increased team participation, and a new points-based qualification system that spans from January to October.
Key structural changes include expanding international leagues from 11 to 12 teams and increasing the Game Changers Championship field from eight to 10 teams. The 2025 season will feature a revamped format, beginning with a double-elimination kickoff tournament, followed by two distinct stages that qualify teams for international Masters events in Bangkok and Toronto, culminating in the VCT Champions event in Paris. Additionally, Riot is introducing a new "Championship Points" system to determine qualification for the year-end championship and will allow partner organizations to operate academy teams within the Challengers tier to foster talent development.
The geographic scope of the tour emphasizes a global footprint, with future commitments already established for VCT Champions to visit China in 2026 and the Americas in 2027. While the 2025 calendar includes a dedicated offseason for third-party events, Riot remains in active discussions regarding the potential inclusion of Valorant in the Esports World Cup. These updates reflect a broader effort to stabilize the tier-two ecosystem and provide a clear, meritocratic path for teams to ascend to the highest levels of professional competition.
