Riot Details EMEA Changes to Valorant Tier 2 Ecosystem in 2025

Riot Games has announced a comprehensive restructuring of the Valorant Tier 2 ecosystem in the EMEA region for 2025. The primary objective of these changes is to refine the Path to Pro, creating a more cohesive and competitive environment across Challengers, Game Changers, and the Premier in-game tournament system. By implementing a points-based qualification structure for the Ascension tournament, the organization aims to provide a clearer, meritocratic pathway for teams to earn promotion into the VCT EMEA league.

The 2025 season will feature a new three-stage structure for Challengers, with each stage culminating in a regional tournament where the top two teams from each league compete for Championship Points. Additionally, the regional landscape is shifting as Italy and Portugal are integrated into the Spanish Challengers league. This consolidation removes import restrictions for players from these nations and aligns the league structure with the corresponding Premier Zones. The eight-team Spanish league will be composed of top-performing teams from previous seasons, regional winners, and a new wildcard entry based on organizational stability and ecosystem impact.

To further support player development, the Premier system remains the preferred entry point for aspiring professionals, while a new Express Lane Mechanic will be introduced for Game Changers teams. This feature allows participants to compete in Challengers League open qualifiers without scheduling conflicts with existing Game Changers events. These updates reflect a strategic effort to standardize competition across the EMEA region and ensure that the most stable and high-performing organizations have a transparent route to the top tier of professional Valorant.
