Monthly revenue climbed from $25 million in August 2018 to $160 million in August 2019.
PUBG Mobile has reached a significant financial milestone, surpassing $1 billion in cumulative global player spending. This achievement highlights the title's rapid expansion, underscored by a 540 percent year-over-year revenue increase. Data indicates that monthly revenue climbed from approximately $25 million in August 2018 to over $160 million by August 2019. This growth is largely attributed to the successful launch of the reworked Chinese version, Game For Peace, alongside consistent global content updates and strategic partnerships, such as the integration with Twitch Prime.
The analysis, based on Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data, demonstrates that the game’s success is not solely dependent on the Chinese market. Even when excluding China, international monthly revenue grew by 152 percent year-over-year, reaching nearly $63 million in August 2019. When compared to its primary competitor, Fortnite, PUBG Mobile has demonstrated superior momentum; while Fortnite experienced a 36 percent decline in iOS spending over the same period, PUBG Mobile saw a 165 percent increase on the same platform outside of China.
Beyond revenue, the game has achieved substantial user acquisition, reaching 400 million global installs. The month of August 2019 saw a record-breaking 45 million new first-time players, more than doubling the previous month’s performance. These metrics solidify the title's position as the leading mobile battle royale game across the App Store and Google Play, reflecting a robust trajectory driven by aggressive monetization and player engagement strategies.
