The combined titles doubled their total lifetime revenue in just over seven months.
PUBG Mobile, including its Chinese localized version Game For Peace, has achieved a significant financial milestone by reaching $3 billion in lifetime global revenue. This achievement is notable for the speed of its growth, as the title doubled its total lifetime revenue in just over seven months. During the first half of 2020 alone, the game generated $1.3 billion, with monthly spending peaking at $270 million in March, a surge attributed to the global impact of COVID-19 lockdowns.
The revenue distribution highlights the importance of the Chinese market, which accounts for 52 percent of total lifetime spending through the App Store. The United States follows as the second-largest market with 14 percent, while Japan contributes 5.6 percent. Platform-wise, the Apple App Store dominates the revenue share at 79 percent, significantly outpacing Google Play’s 21 percent. In terms of user acquisition, the game has reached 734 million global downloads, with India leading at 24 percent of total installs, followed by China and the United States.
These findings underscore the successful transition of major PC and console intellectual properties into the mobile shooter genre. PUBG Mobile’s performance in the first half of 2020 significantly outperformed other prominent mobile shooters, such as Garena Free Fire, Knives Out, and Call of Duty: Mobile. The data, derived from Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform, illustrates the increasing viability and profitability of high-fidelity shooter experiences on mobile devices, solidifying the title's position as a leader in the global mobile gaming market.
