Panel: Fantasy Pitching

[Music] so for those you haven't seen this before I like I like to say I trying to do a sort of comedy style panel type thing it's not really comedy but it's like just a bit light-hearted in this particular case the formula is that we're going to basically look about pitching so it's an exercise on how to pitch games with a slight twist so this is the Dragons Den you are the Dragons you get to decide which pitch wins and I've basically got for my mates to tell me what they want to pitch for each of these stupid games now these are all real games we kind of call this fantasy

vision deathmatch but that's another subject the rules are as follows I am going to provide screen grabs a single screen grab and I will ask the panelists to tell me what the game should be and the judge of who that game will be will be you I will ask you to tell me who wins then I'll reveal what the real game is and quite often they're just so weird that you won't believe it even weirder than anything well this is a challenge you will it be weirder than anything you guys come up with we'll see we'll see anyway so that's that's the basic principle we're going to see the screen grabs we're going to pitch and we're going to vote now the voting criteria please bear in mind the voting criteria as follows we are looking for originality we are looking for innovation and I want you to pay attention to should this game be made funny is good but if you can try and

think about these three things it'll be much more funny in the end I trust me trust me believe me so let me start us off our first game is this who wants to volunteer to give the first pitch Debra you're good my I'll go I'm so glad other people have notes okay so I'm gonna set the scene for you guys yeah it's 1999 and this is an RPG slash branching narrative game where you pick a character to go to a y2k New Year's Eve party and when the clock strikes midnight like everything goes haywire planes start fall from the sky all the banks go bust you know there's fires everywhere it's basically the end of the world but then you wonder but I thought everything was okay right like nothing really happened on y2k we were all really worried about it some of you guys look young so you may not even remember y2k but it was a big deal when we thought the world was

gonna end at the turn of millennium but then it didn't but this is why so at that party somebody is carrying like a devastating code detonator which is going to end the world and set the y2k frenzy ablaze and you are there at the party to try to figure out who that person is every time you go to the party you go as a different character sometimes you go as chicken dude sometimes you go as bunny girl sometimes to go is this guy and you're they are trying to piece bits of info together to try to figure out who the person is carrying the detonator and you're going to get into the psyches of these different people to try to find that information and you don't know who is who is behind this catastrophe right and who is the hero behind the catastrophe and is it the chicken guy is it bunny girl or maybe it's you cake just go and no one explodes so my working title for you is keep disco and no one explodes hey that's good I think we have to go in

kind of firm order so Tara okay I've done this completely wrong because you know I did my research and like to do things live but I thought I was gonna pitch a game based on all the screen crap hey welcome to my life so I'm gonna list okay okay guys setting the scene okay my inspiration comes from that very first episode of CSI where there's the furry convention okay mixed with Dancing with the Stars slash straight from ballroom and basically what it is is an MMO dance battle RPG where you have to you know what battle for the glitter Bowl trophy there's loads of glitter and you kind of like start as a slow level human and you want to kind of like build up to getting your ultimate furry costume to enable you to like live your best life right so there's glitter everywhere and there's a location-based aspect so you can go to location or a real world and have a

flash mob dance battle and you can also do it by proxies in the VR component where somebody at home could be like reenacting the actual dancing in order to ultimately power up your characters to be able to dominate the world of the glitter ball because it the glitter pool is God and this is the realm of the glitter ball see both oh yeah that's my pitch I can't decide if it's fairy CSI or fairy balls [Laughter] yes so I already have a working title for our new game we are actually poker face studios and this is our newest game and it's called party face so the goal actually of our game is that all the characters into the game have to chair the the grey looking guy a bit up because he looks down right

he's like really really at the end of his life has has come it's it's it's horrible so do get the guys around chicken dude and and the lady with the bunny thing are trying to cheer him up by dancing by doing fool things and really taking him to the party and that where he says like alright I went to a party he doesn't have any friends nobody's replying the screen is black so party face is all about cheering this guy up obviously poker face Studios needs funding so we're going to launch our Kickstarter campaign and like a week or two once you have polished a bit the screens thank you thank you very much so that was a Ponte face I think I heard party face so party yes so I'm gonna preface all of mine by saying them I wrote them while doing the big indie pitch so where don't hold up too much hope my game is called I went to a party this guy wakes up after a

five-day bender and is not really sure what has happened in his life all he remembers the first glimpses he went to a party this is the screenshot but you're left with lots of questions what happened at the party why is everyone wearing animal masks why does this star man haunt his a very existence and what you must piece together what happened through flashbacks through those flashbacks we're gonna see a multitude of genres and based on the decisions you make you may find yourself one minute scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup the next minute you storm in the White House maybe you just have in a tea party with your daughter who knows this game could go in any different direction as you explore what happened over the course of those five long lost days will of DLC well of add-ons and it's all about embracing the chaos of what began at the party you can get the tone of this thing now can you we have four

choices we're going to ask you to vote for the first one is keep disco and no one explodes second one is either furry balls or furry CSI and then we have the get your party face on and finally and something weird so votes for keep disco and no one explodes next caps the nice story I like that you don't have to take it there that was your choice we could have kept it clean party face and

those dollar dollars to buy your new air celebrity in-app purchases you'll be able to pray for things such as the Instagram God's to bestow upon you good seasons of your latest television show collect the points you'll have to dodge the paparazzi at all times and create some propaganda machines in order to keep the the dollars rolling in that's my game simulating a modern creation of a new religion that kind of already exists l ron Hubbard would be proud come on this can't be the real answer what is this game yes I totally disagree with you so fierce oh sorry by the way why why don't we have any beers this year long story so welcome to this pitch wonderful exercise and this year I'm going to present you a rosary yes a

rosary is actually the new application for every religion I mean you have to you have to really really really pray every day to get your life better it's sponsored and actually funded by the Vatican itself so you'd better get your prayers up there because you need really really really a lot of funding to fund back to the Vatican because they actually gave you the money so they went back so you have to pray a lot and you have to pray really really a lot because and well yeah why actually because you want to be a good man you're gonna be a good woman you want to be a good kid because even Michael elf 11 years sorry that was Dutch 11 he's still in school and he's praying as well he just wants to be a good adult so yes this is a rosary and we No we live in 2020 so everybody has watches so now we have eros we thanks to the Vatican thank you very much a rosary

this save a prayer for me surely this gave me something much more interesting tell us all that is well let me tell you about the wonderful expansion to want was once known as glitter balls and now is known as free balls this is a mobile expansion where you get to determine that what I'm making this up as I go along alright so turns out furries bad and good battling out for the souls of the human mortal realm as you do you know so this is why you have to then go to this location to be able to then like convert it into an angel or a demon kind of place through your dance skills and [Laughter] skills which you can then monetize in these locations and only in the world there you dude where's where's the beer

I need to bring it's the mobile expansion of glitter balls we're trying to show the fairy religion as it emerges in each territory exactly little balls God tell us what the game really is okay so I went existential on this one someone likes it already okay so this is actually a game designed to teach people the difference between religion and faith and religion we knows this man-made construct it's about consumerism and getting people to pay money for things and what you don't see on these screens there's actually another screen and there is a hole inside these people who are who are praying to the insta gods and to the whatever other various gods that you've made up in the game and that whole continues to grow and as you answer these prayers you know like for the console or for fast food or whatever it is it shrinks a little bit

but it never goes away and actually on the large it's just getting bigger and bigger and bigger and you can't answer prayer as fast enough or have enough money to answer all the prayers to shrink the hole and so you decide to shift your strategy as you're playing the game and instead of giving them the console or the fast food you start to listen to them and you give them a kind word or you encourage them in some way and you realize oh wait that didn't actually cost me anything in the game but their hole is shrinking and so as you continue to do that you start to beat the game and then you basically beat the game completely when you surrender your false god religion and give the people mercy and love for free so we have faithful false kind of works we have we have Scientology simulator we have the Vatican inspired eros er II and we have our furry faith mobile expansion two furry balls so we've got to keep the

trend going so can we have votes for Scientology's simulator we're taking notable survey you later check the Dianetics key and next can we have mobile sorry pear Eve safer faith be very brave okay and we then have [Music] false wins see this is the first time someone's gone for something that's not entirely ridiculous so what was that game that game was prayer God simulator really true real game set in modern day prayer puts the player in God's shoes

where you receive incoming prayers from procedurally generated people your moral compass will be testing as you accept or reject prayers covering a whole range of issues wins within certain time can liberty conditions it's basic you know it's very different it's okay but with that yes for you that's fair that's fair let's see what the next game has in store for us I am going to punish Catholic it's your turn alright oh I'm very very happy to present to you to bodybuild a hero obviously this guy is like really just getting out of jail he's an ex-con he didn't only did the only thing that he did in jail was like exercising and he wanted to bring it home and now he is like alright I am really very very good Unreal developer you can see it by the screenshot by the way I mean it's so pretty that you can it's obvious right

so the the purpose of the game is that he would help you in two weeks lose 200 pounds I mean it's incredible what this thing does you don't need to go on a diet anymore you don't need to go any vague and stuff whatever anymore just listen to the bodybuilder hero this guy needs a bit of funding though well he's coming out of jail so he's been broke so yeah if you just like putting a bit of enough money and I will send you his email address and his banking accounts details just after the pitch thank you very much that can't be the real game Tara what is the real game and what's it got to do with fairies well I'm glad you asked and I really didn't think I'd be closing out this day by saying furries and balls on this stage as much as I have what a perfect way to win today but here we go let me tell you about our wonderful expansion to our completely highly

successful furry game this is our Idol clicker which is really important because as you all well know you have to be very strong to be able to carry the weight of a furry costume and as you're leveling up a heavier it gets worn a dress yeah we're branching out into cosplay characters and you know yeah so this is you developing your character it ties in completely to the you know PC every other platform that we're now on characters that you're building on the vast audiences that want to show they're they're very loved exactly yeah lots of high-end fur tell me what is this game so this game is called get hench and while you might think it's

just about you know managing the workouts of this character and making sure he's taking his protein at the right time and doing the right exercises and using the right weights at centra you might think that but you would be wrong because this is actually a dating game and this dating game is about helping henchmen and hench women find love in their off time because even you know characters like odd-job they also you know they need their downtime they need love so this is about trying to figure out who would send ya from Goldeneye like who would she fall in love with and have a lasting relationship with so you're gonna figure out the interest intricacies of these people's personalities and then try to match them with other henchman or hench women to find love because you know if you've watched Moonraker jaws obviously that happened for him so there you go it's gonna happen for all job it can happen for anyone get hedge but of course that couldn't be a what's the real games of fear well what do you do

when you know that you've already got a brilliant idea you jump straight in episode 4 this is roid rage episode 4 house arrest we're doing the story halfway through he's he started off with his body bill then he was getting good he was going the gym he's got the competitions these are gonna be the earlier installments in the franchise saga we're episode three is gonna see his downfall and the subsequent house arrest that he now finds himself in but over the course of this game we're gonna learn was he guilty or was he innocent you see the phone in the corner we're gonna get calls from you know people running podcasts family and friends you'll be able to answer them in various different ways and understand how his life's gone you'll also be working out because you know he can't beat the roid rage the rage is still there hidden within him like the Incredible Hulk he doesn't need much food he's just got his protein there that's all he needs protein and weight you'll be able to spend some of the extra instalments staring out of the window longingly

looking to see what's going on your little there that will go off every now and again if you accidentally step too close to the door and there you know you'll get some nice visits from the police and other guest appearances roid rage for ya episode 4 of house arrest house arrest it's one of these four games you're going to get to decide is it bodybuilder hero very clicker is it episode 4 house arrest votes for bodybuilder hero ok votes for furry clicker really close ok one last time

where we're going to basically talk about the last game and the last game is this I want to see what the Fourier angle and this is so without further ado everyone from the developers that brought you furry balls and furry fluffer and furry faith comes human using our amazing for technology we've okay where you can you play as humans favorite pets in controlling your humans what to do through a series of coercion cute faces and animal sounds and other things that lovely little critters do and have in that case reached peak fariñas that's all I've got you know I mean come on that's what something is there who does not want to

achieve peak furriness most of you with you again so what's this really okay so this is a nurturing game where you have to manage your resources to make sure all of your pets are fed and happy and that your audience is entertained right why because you're in a reality TV show where people are watching you taking care of your pets and the more pets you have the higher the ratings go the more money you make etc the viewership goes up but as you care for your pets then your characters can also watch themselves on the show so that's the characters watching themselves on the show caring for the pets you're gonna have to make really tough decisions right so for example there's Daisy the dog and Rupert the cat and Daisy the dog is an audience favorite they love Daisy the dog the Rupert the cat not so much but both of them get sick and Rupert the cat seems like much more illed and Daisy the dog and now the start of the show have to decide who are

they going to take to the vet they don't have enough resources to take both to the vet and so do the stars take Daisy the dog to the vet because it's an audience favorite and then the ratings are gonna skyrocket or do they take Rupert the dog because that's actually the favorite for them and if they don't then potentially they're gonna be upset which means they won't be able to take care of the pets very well so you're trying to manage not just the pets but also the stars and the audience all at the same time and this human animal weird mashup inhumane game so it's the patching show reality TV deathmatch yeah it's very it's very bizarre okay I would try to make a Truman Show pond that just couldn't come out well on quickly enough so because it's not that Sophia please tell us what it really is this is cutie-wootie distractions of thought in this game you try and get along with your norm and we all have those animals who just want nothing but attention there the cat that steps on the computer the dog that gets in the

way of the TV this is that game but taken to the max you have to see if you can get on with your life as cats and dogs of all levels of cuteness just try to distract you you know you're watching TV and the cat's meow and so you want to pay attention to the cat but catch the more attention you pay to the cats the more you take the eye off your everyday life the more animals appear wanting your attention so before long you start getting swamped but if you don't pay him enough attention they'll be miserable and sad but if you give them too much attention you'll become you'll lose your job you won't go to work nothing happens in life all you do is look after the cat's so it's a management game can you look after the cuteness while still living your life I would personally fail but yeah the ultimate destruction look at all these cute little dogs and cats there you go cutie who'd see ultimate distract I don't even need to say anything do I I mean Thank You booty the management game yes [Laughter]

this is really really a very nice game called pets attention actually what you want to do you are the cats or dogs team it's like a team player game right so it's dogs versus the cats the the goal of the game is really to annoy your masters and get them actually the ultimate goal is to get them ending up fighting with each other that is why there is still calm looking at the television whatever whenever and then little Corgi on the ride it's called Mason's the the chief of the the of the dog team and he is like alright which cat I am I going to destroy first in order to get my Master's annoyed and then having them defend them and then well the the lady of the couple is more in favor of the cats and the guy is more in favor of the dog so if the dog team wins then the guy

would be very upset and he will go like all right start yelling at it what are you you're horrible kept doing and my dogs lives team and whatever so they will be ending up really really fighting hard with each other this is like the beginning of the game right so this is why I asked her didn't want to show us the real really ultimate screenshot because it's very very bloody it gets very bloody really attention pet attention cat versus dog wars description of what the game really is but I don't know which one should be made only you know what should be made so we're going to take your vote we have to choose between human play pets the petting show cutie-wootie distraction management or pets attention blood Wars so votes for here so human play bets I gave you a bet to go on so votes for the
