Origin Point Games (OPG) has launched a dedicated discovery platform designed to elevate African game developers onto the global stage. The initiative centers on the Origin Point Games Showcase 2026, a premium, broadcast-quality presentation scheduled for November 12, 2026. By providing a high-visibility platform, OPG aims to address the systemic underrepresentation of African studios in major international industry events, such as those hosted by Sony, Nintendo, and Gamescom.
The showcase highlights the creative output of a continent comprising 54 countries, where hundreds of studios and thousands of developers are currently active. To ensure the quality and integrity of the featured content, OPG implemented a rigorous blind judging process. An external board of industry veterans—including former executives and developers from Sony PlayStation and Ubisoft—evaluated submissions based solely on merit, creative ambition, and potential, without knowledge of the developers' identities or reputations.
This initiative represents a strategic effort to integrate African game development into the broader global market. By establishing a dedicated, merit-based showcase, OPG seeks to bridge the gap between local talent and international audiences. The inaugural broadcast will be hosted on YouTube, and the organization has already established a pipeline for future submissions, signaling a long-term commitment to fostering visibility and professional growth for developers across the African continent.
