South African indie developer Clockwork Acorn has released a playable demo for its upcoming metroidvania title, Feather’s Edge, on Steam. The game, which features a hoopoe bird warrior navigating a collapsing tower, emphasizes kinetic movement and tactical sword combat. This release marks a significant milestone for the studio, which has been developing the project with financial support from Outersloth, an indie funding initiative established by the creators of Among Us.
The project has generated substantial pre-release interest since its initial reveal at the Indie Live Expo in April 2026. The announcement trailer for the game has surpassed 650,000 views, and the title has accumulated over 43,000 Steam wishlists alongside 12,000 playtest registrations. These metrics indicate a strong market appetite for the studio's latest original intellectual property.
Founded in 2014, Clockwork Acorn is a remote studio recognized for its previous work on titles such as Jetstream and Terra Nil: Vita Nova. The studio maintains a focus on creating games characterized by what it describes as "timeless" and "chunky" design. The release of the Feather’s Edge demo serves as a key step in the game's progression toward a full commercial launch, allowing the developers to gather player feedback on the core combat and platforming mechanics.
