Nazara Technologies Invests $15.7M in Sportskeeda and NODWIN Gaming

Nazara Technologies, an India-based gaming and sports media firm, has secured board approval for a series of strategic investments totaling approximately ₹1.96 billion ($23.1 million USD). This capital allocation is designed to strengthen the company’s core subsidiaries and expand its footprint into emerging technology sectors. The primary focus of this funding round involves a significant commitment of ₹1.48 billion ($17.5 million) directed toward its existing portfolio, specifically targeting sports media publication Sportskeeda and the esports and gaming entity NODWIN Gaming.

The breakdown of these investments includes ₹690 million ($8.15 million) to acquire shares from Sportskeeda’s management, effectively bringing Nazara’s ownership stake to 100%. Additionally, the company is injecting ₹640 million ($7.56 million) into NODWIN Gaming through the subscription of Optionally Convertible Preference Shares. Beyond its core gaming and media holdings, Nazara is diversifying its interests by investing ₹437 million ($5.16 million) for a 60% stake in the gaming center operator Funky Monkeys Play Centres, ₹150 million ($1.77 million) in the marketing firm Datawrkz, and ₹42 million ($496,000) for a 4.7% stake in the artificial intelligence learning platform Learntube.ai.

These financial activities are supported by a broader funding round involving several marquee investors, including the SBI Opportunities Fund and various private capital trusts. By consolidating control over key subsidiaries and entering the artificial intelligence space, the firm aims to bolster its competitive position within the Indian gaming and digital media landscape.
