This marks a significant leadership development for Qiddiya Gaming.
Mike Milanov, a former executive at Team Liquid, has been appointed as the chairman of the newly formed gaming and esports advisory board for Qiddiya City. This appointment marks a significant leadership development for Qiddiya Gaming, a core component of a massive, government-backed entertainment mega-project in Saudi Arabia. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to establish Riyadh as a global hub for competitive gaming and digital entertainment.
Qiddiya Gaming aims to develop a dedicated district spanning 500,000 square meters, which will feature four specialized arenas with a combined peak capacity of 73,000 spectators. The infrastructure plans include permanent facilities for 25 esports clubs, regional headquarters for 30 video game companies, and various gaming-themed hospitality and residential units. The project is supported by the Qiddiya Investment Company, a key entity under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
The broader Qiddiya City project, first announced in 2017, is designed to be an expansive international destination. Upon completion, the development is projected to encompass 60,000 buildings, support 325,000 jobs, and accommodate an estimated 10 million annual visitors. By integrating high-profile leadership and large-scale infrastructure, the project seeks to solidify its position within the global esports ecosystem, with plans to host major competitions and events beginning in 2024.
