A new Americas League will incorporate the LCS, CBLoL, and LLA. A new APAC League will also be formed.
New Leagues. The consolidation plan involves merging existing regional leagues, such as the formation of a new Americas League and a new APAC League.
Riot Games is implementing a significant restructuring of its global League of Legends esports ecosystem for the 2025 season. The primary objective of this initiative is to streamline operations and enhance the competitive structure, drawing strategic inspiration from the existing Valorant esports model. This overhaul aims to create a more cohesive global calendar and improve the sustainability of the professional scene.
The most notable change involves the consolidation of the current eight top-tier leagues—LCS, CBLoL, LLA, LEC, VCS, PCS, and LPL—into five distinct leagues. This reduction is intended to simplify the competitive landscape while fostering higher-quality regional play. Additionally, the new framework will introduce a fresh event at the beginning of the season to increase engagement and provide more high-stakes competition early in the year. In select regions, Riot will also implement a new tier-two promotion and relegation ecosystem, designed to create a clearer pathway for emerging talent to reach the professional level.
These structural adjustments reflect a broader effort to refine the global competitive hierarchy. By reducing the number of leagues and integrating new event formats, the organization seeks to optimize its resources and provide a more consistent experience for fans and stakeholders. The transition represents a major shift in how the professional League of Legends circuit will be managed and contested on a global scale moving forward.
