Krafton’s second quarter of 2024 financial results demonstrate significant growth, driven primarily by the sustained performance of the PUBG franchise. The company reported record-breaking revenue of ₩707 billion ($515.7 million), representing an 82.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Operating profit surged by 152.6% to ₩332.1 billion ($242.2 million), while net profit rose 165.7% to ₩341.4 billion ($249 million).
Mobile platforms remain the primary revenue driver, contributing ₩499.9 billion ($364.6 million), a 104.2% year-over-year increase. PC revenue also saw strong growth, rising 63.5% to ₩191.3 billion ($139.5 million). These gains were fueled by a 40% increase in monthly active users for PUBG: Battlegrounds and a 30% increase for PUBG Mobile, bolstered by strategic collaborations and content updates.
Looking ahead, the company has outlined a long-term strategy to expand the PUBG franchise to an annual value of $10 billion by targeting younger demographics and diversifying across genres and platforms. This growth plan is supported by an aggressive investment strategy, including the acquisition of 11 studios since January 2024, such as Tango Gameworks. Future development efforts include the upcoming launch of Dark and Darker Mobile and the Early Access release of the life simulation title inZOI, which incorporates generative AI and large language models for enhanced NPC interaction and customization. The company remains focused on scaling its first-party production capabilities and pursuing strategic mergers and acquisitions to cultivate new intellectual properties with significant franchise potential.
