Knauss, a former Riot Games executive, brings nearly a decade of experience to his new role at GRID Esports.
GRID Esports has appointed John Knauss as its new Executive Vice President of Gaming Solutions. In this leadership capacity, Knauss will oversee the company’s Gaming Data Solutions vertical, focusing on providing comprehensive infrastructure for tournament management, data distribution, monetization, and integrity. This strategic hire aims to leverage his extensive background to expand the company’s data-driven capabilities to a broader audience of game developers.
Knauss brings nearly a decade of experience from Riot Games, where he held various product management roles. Most recently, he served as the senior manager of technical product management, overseeing global sports data rights strategy, commercialization, and the development of competitive data tools for major titles such as League of Legends and Valorant. His tenure at Riot was characterized by a deep focus on building data-centric teams and utilizing in-game data to enhance player engagement and game sustainability.
This appointment represents a continued expansion of the GRID North America team, following the earlier 2024 additions of VP of Business Development Julian Schwartz and Senior Business Data Consultant Tim Sevenhuysen. By integrating Knauss’s expertise in technical product management and esports data infrastructure, the company intends to strengthen its value proposition for developers, players, and the wider competitive gaming ecosystem.
