The browser-based title Hero Wars: Dominion Era has reached a significant financial milestone, generating $650 million in lifetime revenue over its eight-year operational history. Launched in October 2016, the game has accumulated 75 million installs across various PC platforms, including official websites and social networks. The broader Hero Wars intellectual property remains a primary revenue driver for parent company GDEV. The mobile iteration, Hero Wars: Alliance, has surpassed $1.5 billion in in-app purchase revenue with over 150 million global downloads. Strategic initiatives, such as a recent collaboration with the Tomb Raider franchise, have proven effective in driving engagement, resulting in a 25% increase in new paying users across both versions of the game. As of late 2023, the franchise maintained a global user base of over 7 million monthly active users, with the United States representing the largest market at 35% of total bookings, followed by Asia at 25% and Europe at 20%.
In a separate development within the GDEV holding, the studio Game Gears has reported substantial operational efficiencies through the integration of generative artificial intelligence. During the development of the mobile title Aliens vs Zombies: Invasion, the studio utilized a suite of AI tools to accelerate production timelines by an average of four times. Specifically, the studio noted that AI-driven processes increased the speed of 2D and 3D asset creation by 10 to 30 times, while game design documentation and balancing tasks saw a 2.5-fold improvement in efficiency.
