Internal financial and operational data for GTA Online and Red Dead Online was exposed. Rockstar Games stated the leaked data is not critical and does not impact operations or players.
A recent security breach by the hacker group ShinyHunters has exposed internal financial and operational data regarding Rockstar Games’ live-service titles, specifically GTA Online and Red Dead Online. The leaked information provides a detailed look at the monetization performance and player engagement metrics for these titles between September 2025 and March 2026. Despite the unauthorized access, Rockstar Games has maintained that the stolen data is not critical and does not impact the company’s operations or its player base.
Financial data indicates that GTA Online generates approximately $1.3 million in daily revenue, totaling roughly $498.8 million annually. Revenue streams are primarily driven by Shark Card purchases, which account for 74% of daily earnings, while the GTA+ subscription service contributes the remaining 26%. In contrast, Red Dead Online generates significantly lower returns, with annual earnings estimated at $26.4 million. Player engagement remains high for GTA Online, which maintains an average active audience of over 9.9 million users, though only 4% of these players contribute to the game's revenue.
Geographic and platform-specific insights reveal that the United States is the primary market for GTA Online, contributing $153 million in revenue during the observed period, followed by the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and France. Regarding hardware, the PlayStation 5 is the most lucrative platform, generating $4.48 million weekly, followed by the Xbox Series X at $1.86 million. PC users represent the smallest portion of the audience and contribute the least to weekly revenue, averaging $264,300. These findings highlight the continued dominance of console-based microtransactions in sustaining the long-term profitability of Rockstar Games' live-service ecosystem.
