The tournament features 300 students from 15 universities competing for a total prize pool of $11,000 USD.
Gen.G Esports has launched the Gen.G Collegiate Cup, a new competitive initiative targeting university students across Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. As part of the organization’s broader Gen.G Global Academy program, the tournament features competition in PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, and Valorant. The event has secured participation from 300 students representing 15 universities, who are competing for a total prize pool of $11,000 USD.
The initiative serves as an educational and developmental platform, offering students access to professional coaching, seminars, and industry-focused conferences. Strategic support for the tournament is provided by HONOR, which supplies mobile hardware for the competition, and Tencent Games MENA, which is assisting in talent discovery and growth.
This program aligns with the Saudi Arabian government’s National Gaming and Esports Strategy, a long-term economic initiative aimed at diversifying the nation's revenue streams beyond fossil fuels. Gen.G’s involvement in the region is further solidified by its participation in the Qiddiya City Club Program and the Esports World Cup Club Program. While the organization continues to expand its footprint in the Middle East, the broader regional push into esports remains a subject of international scrutiny regarding the Saudi government's human rights record and the potential for sports washing.
