[Music] there you go thank you good morning everybody ladies and gentlemen dear gaming people it's super to have you here and it's super to be here my name is Errol aunty McKee and the conductor of the game music collective and for those who don't know game music collective yet I'll say a couple of words what we are and why we are so the game music collective is the first European professional gaming Orchestra game music orchestra and we're a couple of people with gaming backgrounds and with real professional music education we're all doing gigs like myself I tour with different symphony professional Symphony Orchestra in Finland and also abroad and all of our musicians are from different orchestras graduated from the Academy or abroad and what brought us together is this stuff and this is a
great a big sound like this it's not absolutely necessary to have a hundred member Orchestra but we really wanted to do is create a group a collective of musicians with real passion to the game music stuff and we really thought what do we need what do we need to get create this kind of stuff so all the musicians are really hand-picked to really do this stuff we've got great artists for example about the video you just saw the hour video artist cynic Hanks he's back there give a big hand for him [Applause] and tomorrow we've got to have the concert at the penal andia hall we're gonna see all the visual stuff made by him and really looking forward to that but about the music what we want to do not just play gamers except for well we
also want to give the possibility for gaming companies for all the stuff to really have the full chain from one place we want to offer composition arrangement recording playing mixing all that from one place and to be played with passion or really the people who do the gaming themselves and then have the passion for the game music and then to go for tomorrow concert for example we gotta have the visual stuff we want to bring the game music as a genre really to concerts and people to see ok this is gay music it's not just the beep-beep stuff it used to be in the 80s or something it's really real music and I think there's nobody in this hall to disagree that game music it's there to create the mood to really take the players to really deep to the feelings we want to great but it's not only in
the games it's also in concert halls and that's what we are for and tomorrow we're gonna bring of course the gaming music classics for the audience but also stuff that's new and that that's one of our points actually also to like promote new games with great music we have the classics tomorrow we also like newer stuff from undertale just to name one of those and great pieces real great arrangements really handmade for this particular ensemble combining acoustic instruments combining electronics to really create this sound for game music unfortunately we're not a hundred member orcas but we're still a bit bigger than than this stage here that's why we need the Finlandia hall tomorrow but luckily we can turn the game music collective to JMC can be also
the game music cellos which we're gonna have next and give you a tiny bit of just see what's coming up tomorrow so we'll have game music played for you cellos we're gonna have our artistic leader the founder who cast the save ski and some friends so please welcome game music cellos [Applause] [Music] you

The Game Music Collective serves as Europe’s first professional orchestra dedicated exclusively to the performance and production of video game scores. Comprised of classically trained musicians with professional backgrounds in major symphony orchestras, the collective aims to elevate game music from its historical perception as simple electronic sound effects to a sophisticated, emotionally resonant genre worthy of concert hall performance. By bridging the gap between traditional orchestral arrangements and modern electronic production, the ensemble seeks to validate game music as a legitimate artistic medium capable of defining the mood and narrative depth of interactive experiences.
Beyond live performance, the collective functions as a comprehensive service provider for the gaming industry. It offers a full-service production chain that includes composition, arrangement, recording, and mixing, all executed by professionals who possess a deep, personal passion for gaming. This integrated approach allows developers to access high-quality, bespoke musical assets tailored to the specific emotional requirements of their titles. The group emphasizes the importance of handmade arrangements that blend acoustic instrumentation with electronic elements to capture the unique sonic identity of modern gaming.
The collective’s mission extends to promoting both historical classics and contemporary titles, such as Undertale, to broader audiences. By hosting large-scale events, such as the concert at Helsinki’s Finlandia Hall, the group integrates visual artistry with live music to demonstrate the cultural significance of the medium. The ensemble maintains flexibility in its scale, ranging from smaller chamber groups like the Game Music Cellos to larger orchestral configurations, ensuring they can adapt to various performance environments while maintaining the high technical standards expected of professional symphonic musicians.
