The sale launched on July 25, 2025, and runs through July 31. It is branded as “Games Forged in Germany.”
The fourth annual "Games Made in Germany" Steam sale, rebranded this year under the tagline "Games Forged in Germany," launched on July 25, 2025, and ran through July 31. It features more than 350 German-made games and is positioned as a showcase of the country's varied games industry and talent. Organizers highlight a potential audience of 69 million daily active Steam users, and the selection includes multiple winners of the German Computergame Award and the German Developer Award.
The promotion is an initiative of Games Germany, the association of German games promotion and networking institutions, which aims to present the diversity of German games internationally and help studios with distribution. The sale opened with a live-stream premiere on the NerdStarTV Twitch channel, with selected trailers on IGN's YouTube channel and on-air coverage by GameStar.
The Hamburg-focused coverage, published by Gamecity Hamburg, spotlights almost 30 local titles, though about 27 are described in detail. They span a wide range of genres: roguelike monster-taming (Aethermancer), space combat (EVERSPACE 2), survival horror (SIGNALIS), cozy and management simulations (Frisia, Tattoo Tycoon, The Regreening, Soulitaire, Bee Welcome!), co-op and couch games (Beacon Patrol, Wild Woods, Replicore, Vacunauts), narrative adventures (Closer the Distance, IKUMA, Lost Ember, Misgiven), and VR and music experiences (Monstersongs, ODDADA). Established names such as Daedalic Entertainment (Surviving Deponia), Rockfish Games, Mooneye Studios, CrazyBunch, Tiny Roar, and Beardshaker Games appear alongside smaller independent teams and solo developers.
The page's sidebar also shows Gamecity Hamburg's 2026 activity, including applications for the Games Germany Steam Sale 2026 (open until March 31, 2026), the Games Lift incubator offering €15,000 per team, prototype funding, Road to gamescom, and the Portside Game Assembly in June 2026.
