The CD PROJEKT Group’s H1 2024 earnings results highlight a period of operational stability and financial growth driven by the sustained performance of the existing product catalog. Despite the absence of new game releases during the first half of the year, the company reported sales revenue of 425 million zloty, representing a nearly one-third increase compared to the same period in 2023. Net profit reached 170 million zloty, an 88% year-over-year improvement, with the Group achieving a 40% net profitability margin. This financial success allowed the company to maintain a strong liquidity position, with cash, deposits, and bonds totaling 1.37 billion zloty as of June 2024.
The primary driver for this performance was the continued engagement with the Cyberpunk franchise, supported by the Phantom Liberty expansion and various community-focused initiatives. While selling expenses decreased due to the conclusion of the Phantom Liberty launch cycle, administrative expenses rose as the company increased investment in research and development for future projects, including those codenamed Polaris, Orion, Canis Majoris, and Hadar. The company is currently transitioning its development strategy, aiming for slightly leaner, more efficient team structures compared to the peak staffing levels seen during the development of Cyberpunk.
Development efforts remain focused on the upcoming Polaris trilogy, which is nearing the production phase. The company maintains a consistent, long-term development cycle for its AAA titles, typically spanning four to five years. Management emphasized that development decisions are guided by internal expertise and creative vision rather than market surveys. Looking ahead, the company continues to explore opportunities to expand its intellectual property into broader pop culture media, including animation and other entertainment formats, while maintaining a disciplined approach to capital allocation and shareholder returns through consistent dividend payments.
