CD Projekt
CD PROJEKT Group’s 2023 fiscal year was defined by the successful launch of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion, which acted as a catalyst for the company’s second-best financial performance in its history. The expansion, coupled with the release of the Ultimate Edition and ongoing franchise support, drove consolidated sales revenue to 1.23 billion PLN, a 30% increase over the previous year. Net profit reached 481 million PLN, representing a 39% year-over-year growth. The company maintained a strong liquidity position, ending the year with 1.3 billion PLN in cash, deposits, and treasury bonds, and proposed a 100 million PLN dividend for shareholders.
The company is currently transitioning its development focus toward a robust pipeline of future projects. Project Polaris, the next entry in The Witcher franchise, remains the most advanced project, with a team of over 400 developers preparing to enter full production in the second half of 2024. Other active initiatives include Project Sirius (early pre-production), Project Canis Majoris (a Witcher remake in the conceptual phase), and Project Orion (a Cyberpunk sequel currently in the conceptual phase at the company’s new Boston hub). Additionally, the company is exploring a new intellectual property, Hadar, which is also in the conceptual stage.
Operational strategy emphasizes maintaining moderate, efficient team sizes—typically 400 to 500 core members per project—while leveraging AI to enhance capabilities rather than reduce headcount. The company expects total employment levels to remain relatively flat throughout 2024, with targeted growth primarily focused on the Boston studio. Furthermore, the group is pursuing a "franchise flywheel" strategy, utilizing media collaborations, such as the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime and a partnership with Anonymous Content, to sustain long-term interest in its core intellectual properties.
