Castrol Sponsors Wolves Esports Honor of Kings Team

Castrol, the global lubricant brand owned by British Petroleum, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Chinese esports organization Wolves Esports. Under the terms of the deal, Castrol will serve as an official partner for the organization's Honor of Kings division, which competes in the King Pro League (KPL). The partnership includes branding placement on the left shoulder of the team’s jerseys. While the financial specifics of the arrangement remain undisclosed, the move aligns with Castrol’s broader engagement in the sector, as the brand has maintained a sponsorship relationship with the KPL league itself since February 2021.

The partnership highlights the growing intersection of traditional corporate brands and professional gaming in the Chinese market. Wolves Esports, based in Chongqing and backed by the Chinese property conglomerate Fosun, maintains a significant infrastructure presence, including a dedicated home venue and various offline retail locations. The organization’s portfolio of sponsors also includes Realme, Swisse, Clear, and Huya.

This collaboration reflects a wider trend of cross-regional investment and brand integration within the esports ecosystem. Fosun’s influence extends beyond the Chinese market, as the firm also holds a minority stake in the North American organization Evil Geniuses. This connection provides context for the broader strategic reach of these organizations, as Castrol has previously secured similar sponsorship deals with Evil Geniuses, signaling a concerted effort by the brand to leverage high-profile esports teams to reach younger, digitally engaged demographics across multiple international territories.
