The company reported $2.2 billion in net revenue.
Activision Blizzard’s financial results for the second quarter of 2023 demonstrate significant growth across all primary metrics, largely propelled by the successful launch of Diablo IV. The company reported total net revenue of $2.2 billion, a 34% increase year-over-year, with digital sales comprising 91% of that total. Net bookings rose by 50% to $2.46 billion, while operating income climbed 72.4% to $583 million.
The Blizzard segment served as the primary catalyst for this performance, achieving its first-ever $1 billion quarterly revenue milestone, representing a 168% year-over-year increase. This surge was driven by the release of Diablo IV, which attracted over 10 million players in June. Conversely, the Activision and King segments showed more modest revenue growth of 17% and 9%, respectively. Despite the strong financial gains, the company experienced a slight decline in monthly active users across all three segments compared to the previous quarter.
Mobile remained the company's largest platform by revenue, contributing $943 million, followed by PC at $594 million and console at $556 million. While the company continues to navigate economic headwinds and industry competition, leadership remains focused on long-term growth strategies and the pending merger with Microsoft. The results highlight a shift toward high-engagement live services and premium game sales, with King specifically leveraging artificial intelligence to optimize live operations for its core titles.
