Create free accounthello and welcome to Biz daily I'm John Jordan so we're now well into the financial period where companies are announcing some Financial figures which is very interesting um for us uh kind of business journalists and the company we're talking about today is come to us now for a long time that was um it's Korean publisher based in Korea and it was very much like a local Korean kind of outfit um that was where it saw most of its success but over the past kind of two years it's gradually becoming more International and over the past year it's seen an incredible acceleration of its growth so it figures um this is for the its Q2 Q2 Financial period um for the year 2015 which is the period April May June um and it saw um it saw sales of Qui cheat look at the cheat she $97 million and that was up 16% quarter on quarter so that's compared to the previous quarter in 2015 um and it compared to the quarter a year ago well
up over 100% overd doubled when it come to net income it had net income of $28 million um and that was up uh look 14% quarter on quarter again so you're seeing incredible sequential growth from this company um and the main reason there there's a few games that are doing that are doing okay but there's one in particular which is Summoners War so this is a kind of a an RPG you know Korean RPGs fairly grindy um and it's picked up it's been out for over a year now it kind of it kind of launched pretty well but it's just picked up over over every single month sales are going up and up and up and because of this um come to us is actually obviously marketing it very very heavily um and what we're seeing is every month it's kind of um marketing or user acquisition um fees are going up so last quarter it spent $15 million marketing um its games mainly Summoners Tales um Summoners War sorry um and this quarter it spent $18 million marketing its games and particularly it was focusing on the Japanese and the North American markets
um although when we were in um in Cologne recently uh for for the Gamescom conference there was uh there was advertising on the buses and transs in cologne as well um so it's kind kind of interesting and we've seen this before obviously um that we're in like a winner takes all market and even though there's lots of games being released there's a few kind of key ones that are just generating um the kind of the the vast amounts of Revenue and even for you for a company um and for a company like come to us which isn't isn't a um you know supercell really you know it's um it's growing very fast but it's still um its sales for 2014 were um$ 216 million dollar so fairly substantial but not a not kind of a half a billion billion dollar kind of company like the ones at the top but um very much from from this game that it's buil it's building growth on and what's really been interesting um is on the back of of those games and to say a few others has a fishing game and has some baseball games mainly RPGs though it's basically Korea Korean sales fairly insignificant
now for for come to us so 82% of come to Us's sales in the last quarter were outside of Korea and of those breaking down 44% were Asia excluding Korea so that's Japan China southeast Asia and 37% was North America 133% was was Europe um um so you're kind of seeing kind of kind of company kind of breaking out of of it of what was its Heartland and partly it's because it's got a good game and it's a game it's it's continuing to do support Live Events and and kind of keep keep these players engaged obviously bring new players in but partly because this is the way that the market is kind of the global gamees market has changed over the last year this provided an opportunity for companies that were very strong in their individual local Regional markets to take their successful games and kind of take them globally what's really been interesting is that now if you compare come to us with some of the big companies the Western companies that we kind of know more about because they're Western companies um so it's quarter for the first time it um this quarter that this Q2 was bigger than Game Loft so
gameof has been going um know French company been going for a long period of time um and it's kind of you know come to us it's kind of sneaked up and overtaken it and also glue mobile so even glue mobile had had been doing really well in the last year particular with this Kim Kardashian game um and it's de Hunter game um but glue um that come to us has now overtaken that so so if you kind of look I mean there's lots of companies and kind of place them all in order is very complicated to break down their mobile Revenue but um when we look at kind of some of the key um kind of companies we look at um come to us is now pretty much in in kind of in um in fourth place if we if we take it as as a um compar to of the US companies and that's really as I say it's come from not quite nowhere but but um from a long way back in the pack and that just shows how the the kind of mobile market is is allowing this kind of global GL This Global growth to occur and particularly now we're seeing that happening in Asia and that's obviously very good for companies who are based in Asia as in the Japanese and the Korean and the Chinese kind of companies and that that's kind of really where we're seeing the the kind of um the spark of of of
accelerated growth happening and certainly that's been reflected in comes these figures this quarter so come back tomorrow there probably be some more quy figures for us to talk about uh we love numbers so come back and we'll talk about them tomorrow see you then
Com2uS has successfully transitioned from a localized South Korean mobile publisher into a significant global industry player, driven primarily by the sustained performance of its flagship RPG, Summoners War. During the second quarter of 2015, the company reported quarterly sales of $97 million, representing a 16% increase quarter-over-quarter and a growth of over 100% compared to the same period in the previous year. Net income reached $28 million, marking a 14% sequential increase. This financial trajectory highlights the company’s rapid ascent, allowing it to surpass established Western mobile publishers such as Gameloft and Glu Mobile in quarterly revenue.
The core of this expansion lies in an aggressive international user acquisition strategy. Com2uS increased its marketing expenditure from $15 million to $18 million in a single quarter, focusing heavily on North American, Japanese, and European markets. This investment reflects a broader industry trend where successful regional titles are increasingly capable of achieving global scale through consistent live operations and heavy promotion. Consequently, the company’s reliance on its domestic market has diminished significantly, with 82% of its quarterly sales now originating outside of South Korea. Specifically, 44% of revenue is derived from Asia excluding Korea, 37% from North America, and 13% from Europe.
This shift underscores the evolving nature of the global mobile games market, which increasingly favors a winner-takes-all dynamic where high-performing titles generate substantial, compounding revenue. By leveraging the popularity of Summoners War alongside a portfolio of sports titles, Com2uS has demonstrated that Asian publishers are well-positioned to capitalize on global distribution channels, effectively moving from niche regional operators to top-tier international competitors.
