Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco Holdings reported strong financial growth for the first nine months of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. The company achieved consolidated net sales of 528.76 billion yen, representing a 109.4% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Operating profit saw significant momentum, rising to 69.86 billion yen, a 130.7% increase year-over-year. These results reflect a robust performance across the company’s diversified portfolio, which spans toys, network entertainment, amusement facilities, and visual production.
The Network Entertainment segment remained the largest contributor to revenue, generating 238.52 billion yen, supported by steady performance in both network content and home video games. The Toys and Hobby segment also demonstrated strong growth, reaching 183.96 billion yen in sales, driven by the popularity of key intellectual properties such as Dragon Ball, Mobile Suit Gundam, and Kamen Rider. Additionally, the Real Entertainment segment, which includes amusement machines and facilities, contributed 75.13 billion yen, benefiting from an expanded footprint of managed locations.
Geographically, Japan remains the primary market, accounting for 431.18 billion yen in external sales. While international markets in the Americas, Europe, and Asia continue to contribute to the group’s total, the domestic market remains the core driver of both revenue and operating profit. The company’s financial health is further evidenced by a 13.2% operating profit margin and consistent investment in advertising and personnel to support its ongoing IP-led strategy. These results confirm that the company is on track to meet its full-year forecasts, maintaining a stable trajectory across its global entertainment operations.
