Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco Group achieved record-high financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027. Consolidated net sales reached 328.4 billion yen, representing a 28.0 billion yen increase over the previous year, while operating profit rose to 69.2 billion yen, a 17.3 billion yen improvement. This growth was primarily driven by the robust performance of established intellectual properties, most notably the Gundam, Dragon Ball, and One Piece series, which were leveraged across a diverse range of product categories.
The Toys and Hobby segment served as the primary engine for this growth, recording segment sales of 192.7 billion yen and a profit of 53.9 billion yen. This success was attributed to strong demand for mature fan products, card games, Gashapon, and confectionery. Conversely, the Digital segment experienced a decline, with sales falling to 90.9 billion yen and profit to 15.0 billion yen, largely due to a shift in the home console game release schedule compared to the prior year. The Amusement segment maintained steady performance, bolstered by a 7.6% year-on-year increase in sales at existing facilities in Japan and the continued popularity of IP-focused retail shops.
Reflecting these first-quarter outcomes and current market trends, the Group has revised its first-half earnings forecast upward, projecting consolidated net sales of 690.0 billion yen and an operating profit of 124.0 billion yen. While the full-year plan remains unchanged at this stage, the company intends to monitor market conditions and the performance of upcoming major home console titles—such as Ace Combat 8 and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3—before reassessing its annual outlook. The Group continues to prioritize global IP expansion through strategic partnerships, theatrical releases, and the development of new digital and physical entertainment experiences.
