Electronic Arts' battle royale title will be a featured competitive game at the event. The tournament is scheduled for summer 2025.
The Esports World Cup Foundation has officially confirmed that Electronic Arts’ battle royale title, Apex Legends, will return as a featured competitive game for the 2025 Esports World Cup. The event is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during the summer of 2025. This inclusion follows the 2024 iteration of the tournament, where the team Alliance secured $600,000 from a total prize pool of $1 million.
The 2025 lineup features a diverse array of major titles, including Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Street Fighter 6, Honor of Kings, Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. While the return of Apex Legends is confirmed, it remains uncertain whether the tournament will be integrated as a mandatory stop on the official Apex Legends Global Series calendar or if it will function as an independent exhibition event.
The Esports World Cup is a non-profit initiative funded by a sports grant from the Saudi Government’s Public Investment Fund. The event is executed through a network of government-affiliated entities, including the Saudi Esports Federation and the Savvy Games Group, which owns the ESL FACEIT Group. The latter serves as a primary facilitator for the tournament’s operations, overseeing various aspects of the eight-week international competition.
