Riot Games has officially announced that the 2025 League of Legends World Championship will be hosted in China. This decision marks a significant return to the region for the premier esports event. While the specific host cities for the tournament have not yet been disclosed, further details are expected to be shared during the 2024 Media Day in London.
In conjunction with the tournament announcement, Riot Games confirmed the extension and expansion of its long-standing global partnership with the China-based mobile phone manufacturer OPPO. The collaboration, which has been active in the region since 2019, will continue to integrate the brand into the competitive ecosystem. Under the renewed agreement, OPPO will serve as the global presenting partner for the Most Valuable Player awards at both the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational and the 2025 World Championship.
The partnership aims to leverage OPPO’s presence to enhance fan engagement throughout the 2025 event cycle. Although the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the collaboration underscores a strategic focus on strengthening the connection between professional League of Legends esports and its substantial fan base in China. The announcement was formally made during the launch event for the OPPO Find X8 series, attended by Riot Games leadership.
