numbers is crazy um for example last year we have four billion apps download which is uh for from the Vietnam game developers and also in the top chart we have over 90 companies from Vietnam to appear in the top chart hello everyone Welcome to our YouTube channel and this is Henry from tenin I'm based in Shanghai and this time we have the pleasure to have Jennifer from when um game developer association with us and to introduce V Market to our Global audience um yeah so uh hi Jennifer hi Henry hi reminded you to yes go forward okay so would you mind introduce yourself it to uh our our uh
audience yeah sure so hi everyone um thanks a lot Henry and tenin team for inviting me for this sharing about Vietnam game development so my name is is as you see I'm from the Vietnam game developer Association a very brief introduction about myself I have eight years working in the ging Industries I cross many different roads I start with the business world and then come from policing manager even I was CEO of an IND game studio and currently I serve at CH of Staff of Vietnam game developer Association so we as an organization have over 18 members who support and leverage for the development of game development community in Vietnam and at the same time I'm CE of Game Geek uh we as the organization Central half to connect IND game studio with the necessary resources so that's pretty s
by myself oh great so as ining we also have a lot of Indian teams to grow their business globally and we have a some amount of customers froma as well and we hoping to help more from WEA Market yes so uh yeah um so for today uh we have a few questions prepared in IND so the first one is uh for you is why why do you think that there boom in mobile game development development industry in Rea yes thanks for question I hope that is not only my thinking but a lot of people think that Vietnam has a booming for mobile games Vietnam um that's a great question actually because uh you know that I'm already in the gaming industry in Vietnam for eight years and from my personal perspective it changed a lot a huge change when I first start a time I know everyone in the community um
every company who the CEO but currently every time when we have industry meet up we see a lot of new faces uh but also I I think I try to prepare some numbers since I know that you would ask about the numbers in Vietnam I don't have it updated yet since we will have it for next week but from last year uh from Google thing apps we have a couple of numbers to show that we we really change a lot since um covid-19 uh around 3 to four years last three to four years the numbers is crazy um for example last year we have four billion apps download which is uh for from the Vietnam game developers and also in the top chart we have over 90 companies from Vietnam to appear in the top chart and also I think for for the
number from the government approximately we have 400 game companies here in Vietnam and over 1, 1500 indie game developers so I mean those such numbers is huge and even with the community Builder liers we kind of very surprised how big the numbers is um yeah those are really great numbers like from my perspective like I'm originally from China you know like Chinese developer is also a really big Community but uh from what I'm seeing V I do agree and definitely agree that is V is a huge market for any of the in gaming industry and every I go to any of the industry conference in Europe and also in North America it's a lot of southe Asian people including vam developing teams they trying to show their Works to the global audience that is really amazing and uh um over the past five years with
changing also worked with a good amount of vam developers and some of really did exceptional work and allr Industry changed more from general to general in the past few years and I think not only Vietnamese developers but many other countries um the developer Community has been TR to move uh to meet the what Market is actually looking at so just a little bit about this I think what you say is very Mak sense uh one thing we notice about the booming vietnams we go along a lot with Hy games so you can see that we have you see the numbers is crazy but however we also recognize that all of them are kind of very indie game Studio or indie game developers very easy to go along with Hyper C games since they not require H team they just very small team and get very quick on the process of the game Circle so that's why I say that past
four or five years we have the booming just go along with hual games yes uh start of similar we helped a lot of hyper casual uh teams to scale up their business with our products and services yes um that is also this to the second question on my end is uh what game what gaming TRS do you are C currently think in Vietnam is there any like a general change what are the what are they talking about in V Market are they trying to move from hyper casual to any other genres or is anything like going on yes agree for that it's a good question since the market changed a lot during the during the last two years change law so of course we have some kind of changing and different kind of Trends in Vietnam the very interesting about the game makers is that they are very young so they were born in the m
error they work with short content adopt a lot of the changes so when whenever we see we need to change they change and flexible a lot since they um not a big team the small team uh anything is affect a lot impact a lot by the market situation when the ecbm is not in a good case for last two years CPI increase and Vietnam this game developer also have to find their way to keep the business run well uh so they 10 to like other hyper CLE games they have to move a lot on hybd of course we still stay measure in hyper CLE games but uh a part of them need to find a way set a dedicated team to working on Hy C games try to make higher LTV and one of the thing I I observe that most of the games do here to Vietnam tries to make part the game uh which case uh it's more complex it's more Happ you the ability to got more
good higher LTV or longer lifetime of the users so what very obvious that they're working more on pule hyp casual Gates yeah uh it is uh very similar to uh what we are seeing from our platform that many of the hyper casual they trying to add more a purchase into their games trying to move to hybrid um but also it's hard it's not easy it's never been easy to move between General like many we also seeing a lot of team are kind of struggling to um have a mention a lower CPI and also trying to increase theirm so that is not easy job but the see that is how what do I see the whole hyper casual General teams are pretty much all been trying to do uh Le in the past a few years and we I think it's still the the thing they are trying to do
as of today yeah is also yeah I sorry sometimes remember something uh for hyper games I think is still still going on and working in Vietnamese game developers however I see that they add more content they more much longer content Story made hard in into the games so I I think that's also some trends that um not kind of Trends the necessary from the market but um we see here they do a lot have a hug team working on content here at Art into the H to make it more meti and keep the lifetime users longer yeah yeah um which also leads to the next question is uh what are the main challenges uh for those developers from what you are seeing in Vietnam H yeah it's a good question when we ask me because I'm working on um Association
so have to really Define the challenges and weakness from the market to we have to identify to find a way to S it uh so actually as Association we try to make it like challenges in the long term and challenges for the short term so that can handle the the solutions so um for for the long term for the longterm as industry we recognize that we are very young Industries Vietnam just um you know already just booming from the last four to five years and the major thing we we recognize is that we really lacking of Human Resources the talents to provide for the game Studio who can work or like dou a tripley games since we not have a long experience of working on this kind of game and um so the kind of things is especially some of the roles like game designer or experience uh project managers and our official
educ education systems it just add for gaming in the education it just last two or three years so we just have the first University here in Vietnam this year to to start uh to teach for game designer and game developers for the first time uh so um I mean that that's really a challenge when we G the booming and we want to have the um very quality of games um so we try to sell it um this is a very longterm challenges U for the short term I think it impact a lot by the market General so you already know that we have to balance we still want to make the good business um by using our competitiv like we working on uh quick game good content adopt a lot of trending but at the same time we have to balance by the market like ecbm CB everything U making more good better
games uh so this is the challenge about the making better quality in the limited resources uh so this is how we we Define the challenges and um I think uh the another thing would be because we have the restructure from the hyper cattle game to hybrid that means that also we have the restructure a lot of on the um Human Resources some of the some of the people working on hyper could not working hybrid or mid core game game that's also a challenge which you have to build the system in the company who can improve or grow the person who can working on better products yeah uh totally agree that the talent is the first priority in any industry that um what I can share is uh from my experience that heard like a lot of the triple studos in Shanghai you
know those Mi those kind of companies they hire a lot of X people from entertainment industry they do all CGI stuff with uh big pay rise but they are making a lot of money so they have the budgeted to do that but the thing is can be a bit different for many of the relatively smaller or mediumsized hyperal Studios the on budget they also still one of the talent to uh learn new things from from uh in trying to do more stuff in um in hybrid or in medical or in hardcore games so that would be something that uh uh can be very challenging uh so but still longterm speaking um education can be get improved and the people have to adapt for the future world I think that is something we all have to to learn yeah good uh okay uh so the last
question on my end is uh what do you predict for the next one or two years I wouldn't ask for too long the next one two years this and the next year what do you think is there any like going to be change on the market or like uh how how this uh how does your community members are thinking on the next well two years uh I love the pi I I have quite a good sense about the pi um for the next two years I mean we already are across uh for the first half of um 20204 and is not easy at all specifically with the Vietnamese game developers Community here in Vietnam so what I object the first thing the training the briti I I strongly can see that we will apply more AI into the game production uh I see a lot of application right now to Vietnam they use still not a lot then see more and more solution
approach into game Studio Vietnam not only for game production also one thing that uh for for marketings so I mean marketing is something that Vietnam GES to do and especially some game Poli in Vietnam do really well and they have more power when they use AI into the plation so the first thing I'm for sure that we will see more application for AI um into the gaming Industries especially I am so excited to see how it changed the industries uh the second thing I could I still see that um we we we will not see a like a big change in the market outside of P CLE in it's still on the way and the game stud didn't find a way to working well on high pre so but I see the Vietnamese game developer they didn't F try to find a way to success in C war and P game this is so another thing um the last thing maybe I recognize in
Vietnam no not not the last thing but U the next thing I recognize in Vietnam is that [Music] um I may say a restructure about the human resources in Vietnam since you already know the Vietnam will be um a little bit delay I I see a massive playoff in the game big game companies in the world if we don't have that kind of mass layoff we see a lot of switch a lot of changes like uh some of the game Studio working on even midcore hardcore they try to work CLE games is that interesting uh some of the H C game they try go they had to set up and learn something to work on hybrid that's s some company go off the close it but a lot open new open so this is um a chances for many new game studio if they can catch the opportunities and the last thing I see in Vietnam and before you know that many
indie games do they try to P by themselves but now in Vietnam we got some of the very big game pares and more and more game studio in this difficult situation they they tend to working with game Publishers in Vietnam so I hope that we got more topers in the top of game bers from Vietnam yeah um totally makes sense St poish has never been easy um we also seen some similar Trends in the past few years this many of the emia or even nor America studios trying to uh change their traditional way to working with developers and uh those developers tried to start self-publishing there was some success but as not as always it could be everyone try to self-publish can make a success yes it's never been easy so um the world has changing where fast um and but everything is changing
like the the the there still a war going on and also us election and it seems many of the economy globally are kind of still still struggling um but seem similar in in gaming um it's really I wouldn't say it's easier or hard but it's just the uh how we are projecting in the next two year we have to in uh put ourself in a survival mode going to try as much as possible to make it to next year and in the year next next year yes okay um I think that's all um my end and really appreciate your time for today and uh uh and I think that's it yeah thanks a lot for for having this sharing I hope that you got more information and understand more about the vietnames game developer Community
sitation here yes yes definitely
