This analysis identifies the leading mobile app publishers worldwide based on download volume during the second quarter of 2019. The primary objective is to rank top-performing entities across the Apple App Store and Google Play, highlighting shifts in market dominance and the geographic diversity of major gaming publishers. Data is derived from the Store Intelligence platform, focusing on unique, first-time installs while excluding pre-installed software and third-party Android marketplaces.
Facebook maintained its position as the top global publisher, recording over 700 million first-time downloads despite an 8.9 percent quarter-over-quarter decline. Google followed as the second-largest publisher with approximately 563 million installs. While these two tech giants dominated overall, the rankings featured a significant presence of international gaming publishers, including Voodoo (France), Good Job Games (Turkey), Outfit7 (Great Britain), Say Games (Belarus), and TabTale (Israel).
Platform-specific performance revealed distinct trends: Google led the Apple App Store with over 180 million installs, while Facebook dominated the Google Play ecosystem with 602 million installs. The App Store landscape remained heavily concentrated, with the United States and China accounting for 12 of the top 20 publishers. Conversely, the Google Play rankings saw notable movement, with Good Job Games rising to the third position and Say Games entering the top 10. These findings underscore a competitive mobile landscape where established tech conglomerates continue to lead, even as specialized gaming publishers from diverse global markets capture significant user acquisition share.
