State of the Stream: March 2025

The March 2025 State of the Stream analysis provides an overview of viewership trends on Twitch, utilizing data provided by Rainmaker.gg. The primary objective is to contextualize fluctuations in platform engagement by examining top-performing streamers and the longevity of trending game categories.

Twitch experienced a decline in daily hours watched throughout March, a trend consistent with historical patterns observed in previous years. This dip is attributed to seasonal factors, specifically the impact of Spring Break, which typically draws viewers away from digital platforms, as well as a comparative reduction in major esports events relative to February. Despite these fluctuations, the platform remains stable, with leadership emphasizing that short-term volatility does not necessarily indicate a long-term decline in engagement.

Individual performance metrics highlight Caedrel as the most-watched streamer on Twitch for March 2025, a position he also held in January. His success is largely driven by his involvement in the League of Legends community, specifically through his commentary and his role as the founder and coach of the esports team Los Ratones. Regarding game categories, Marvel Rivals has demonstrated notable resilience; while it has experienced a gradual month-over-month decline in viewership, it has maintained a presence in the top charts for four consecutive months. This performance is considered promising, as many new titles typically see a sharp drop-off in interest shortly after their initial launch period. Conversely, while Monster Hunter Wilds achieved a top 10 debut, it failed to sustain that momentum into the following month.
