State of the Stream: Call of Duty: Warzone

The April 2025 streaming landscape, as analyzed through data provided by Rainmaker.gg, reflects a period of seasonal stagnation for Twitch, characterized by a plateau in overall hours watched. This trend is attributed to a lack of major game releases during the spring, though expectations for growth remain high for the following month due to anticipated titles in the Doom and Elden Ring franchises.

A significant outlier in this period of flat growth is Call of Duty: Warzone, which experienced a 146% surge in viewership. This performance was driven by the reintroduction of an updated version of the classic Verdansk map. The success of this release underscores the efficacy of leveraging nostalgia to re-engage audiences, provided the content is meaningfully upgraded rather than simply recycled.

Regarding individual creator performance, Caedrel secured the top position among streamers for the third time in 2025, largely due to his consistent focus on League of Legends content. Meanwhile, previous chart-topper KaiCenat has seen his influence fluctuate in direct correlation with his streaming frequency, as he has significantly reduced his broadcast hours compared to the previous year. Additionally, the title Marvel Rivals has demonstrated sustained market relevance, maintaining a position in the top 10 categories for five consecutive months, a notable achievement for a game that has moved past its initial launch window.
