Qlan, a Mumbai-based social networking platform dedicated to esports and gaming, has successfully secured $200,000 USD in a pre-seed funding round. This investment marks the company’s first instance of external financing, as the platform had previously operated as a fully self-funded entity. The funding round included participation from Marwah Sports, CIIE.CO, and Faad Network.
The capital is earmarked to support the company’s strategic expansion efforts and technical improvements. According to co-founder and CEO Sagar Nair, the funds will be utilized to enhance core platform features, specifically focusing on gamer networking, discovery, and content creation capabilities.
The platform has demonstrated significant growth, reaching over 100,000 downloads and maintaining a base of more than 50,000 active users. Its reach is global, spanning markets in India, the Asia Pacific region, Europe, the Americas, South Africa, and the MENA region. Following a six-month beta testing period that commenced in the second half of 2022, the final version of the platform was officially launched in January 2023. This development highlights the ongoing interest in specialized social infrastructure within the global gaming and esports ecosystem.
