NEXON Co.
Nexon achieved record-breaking financial performance for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2024, reporting total revenue of ¥446.2 billion, a 5.4% increase over the previous year. This growth was primarily fueled by the successful global launch of The First Descendant and the introduction of Dungeon&Fighter Mobile in the Chinese market. While operating profit experienced a 7.8% decline due to elevated personnel expenses and impairment costs, profit attributable to owners of the parent surged by 91.0% to ¥134.8 billion. This significant bottom-line improvement was supported by favorable foreign exchange gains and the absence of equity method investment losses that impacted the prior year.
The company maintains a robust financial position, with total assets reaching ¥1,256,771 million and equity rising to ¥1,030,525 million. Earnings per share saw a substantial increase, climbing from ¥82.89 in 2023 to ¥161.79 in 2024. Although regional performance varied—with growth in Korea and North America offsetting a decline in China—the company continues to leverage its IP Growth Initiative. By utilizing a diversified business model that spans PC and mobile platforms through self-publishing and licensing, Nexon remains focused on sustaining its core franchises, specifically Dungeon&Fighter and MapleStory, to drive future revenue.
To further enhance capital efficiency and shareholder value, the board of directors has initiated a strategic capital management plan. This includes the cancellation of nearly 20 million treasury shares and the authorization of a new share buyback program valued at up to 50 billion JPY. Looking toward the first quarter of 2025, the company anticipates continued revenue growth, balancing expected increases in marketing and human resource investments against the sustained momentum of its primary intellectual properties.
