NEXON Co.
Nexon demonstrated robust financial growth during the second quarter of 2012, characterized by double-digit increases in revenue and profitability. Total revenues reached ¥22,876 million, representing a 12% increase over the same period in the previous year, or 20% when adjusted for constant currency fluctuations. Operating income rose significantly by 24% to ¥10,678 million, while the operating income margin improved to 47% from 42% in the second quarter of 2011. Net income also saw substantial gains, climbing 32% to ¥6,768 million.
Geographically, the company’s performance was anchored by strong results in China, which experienced a 38% revenue increase. While Korea and North America remained stable, Japan and other regions saw slight declines in reported revenue. The company’s financial health was bolstered by its strategic focus on the free-to-play model and active expansion efforts, including the acquisition of inBlue Inc., an investment in NCsoft Corporation, and a partnership with Electronic Arts to publish FIFA Online 3 in Korea.
Looking ahead, the company maintains a positive outlook for the remainder of the 2012 fiscal year. Projections for the full year estimate revenues of ¥104,334 million, a 19% year-over-year increase. This growth is expected to be driven by the continued performance of existing franchises and the introduction of new titles, such as Counter-Strike Online 2, Epic of the Three Kingdoms, and Mabinogi 2. These financial results reflect the company’s ongoing efforts to leverage its global footprint and established expertise in the online gaming sector.
