Create free accounthello and welcome to pocketgamer.busy's monetizer this is where we play a uh various free to play games the first five ten minutes or so and just have a look at the kind of user flow the user interface the monetization techniques being used again we're going to look at today is called gunner z so let's fire it up see how we get on stopwatch is uh let's start it okay okay i've got a bit of a cuts cut scene with the logo bit monsters my developer especially with headphones well i'm afraid you're gonna have to do without headphones so zombie game involving guns and we've got that it's loading up loading up okay so it's about 30 seconds okay straight in
so it's pretty uh obvious what we've got to do let's suppose start more loading good okay drag anywhere to aim so okay this might be difficult to do this way around i'll do the best i can once again button appears in section is clear okay oh it's not cleaning it's not good no it's not clear is it
set up there oh there's a lot of them goodness this is a bit like zombie gunship zombie gun ship not on a gunship oh goodness me i think the idea is you're a machine gun like a cherry picker oh it's getting a bit close let's go up here see goody or badly i'm gonna give a lot of information about over there there's a few of them i'm overheating for me probably as i shoot these guys and someone creeping up behind me that's bad
wow no it's a jig a zombie jeep says nope it's a warning what no okay make sure i'm going to make it out of this alive no he's still going this guy's going back okay probably done then okay i think that was a very impressive
uh level was it oh he's a civilian maybe that i killed okay okay so roughly see what's going on here let's go to the garage constantly hold the trigger you won't hit don't hold it okay okay that's good advice okay excuse me i'm gonna try he's gonna fix it up uh swap you over to the second truck okay so this is gonna be a cyclist vehicle name let's call it bang bang so we're getting to see kind of roughly what the upgrade's going to be on this is a bit of a buy new vehicles put new guns on them uh
10 creeping gold's gonna it's going to cost me some xb's uh not got enough xps for that you know they are pink i mean surely gotta be pink isn't it oh like 15 xp do i want to waste the next piece oh why not okay so there's the upgrade okay okay we get a rough idea with gameplay anyway um let's have a quick look at the shop okay to stop occasional ads buying it from the shop with real money okay that's quite nice with doing it i suppose so um they've got kind of dual system here oh my word well so typical ones um you're paying real money for items so we've got like a money doubler which
is everyone's everyone's favorite um single value item which effectively it's worth buying if you know you're going to play over a long time i mean there's it's five dollars that's um not cheap but um obviously double your um speed in terms of collecting money at least got some others we've got to see these xps as well which is obviously um you have a hard currency soft currency xp's by ceramic armor faster reloader um and these ammo doublers and this is interesting so a mobile repair technician i don't know whatever that one of those is one free repair all right okay one free repair mission so that's quite expensive you think that's me 25 i suppose um so we can buy our bx's or we can so there's an incentivized option here so we can watch a video and get three of them which is so getting 99 so so 3bx is worth 53
cents u.s cents um we've got the amazing deal here which is 13 000 vxes which is for 9.99 obviously the most expensive cheapest one is typically yeah 99 cents so six bands over fine so we've got the same with the zay the z's so obviously these give away a lot more um this is they're both hard currencies obviously because you can buy them but this for this one's like the harder currency um so this one here again we can we can get watch video to earn some of those again the most expensive one is 99.99 so it's an amazing deal i'm sure it is you can spend that on my way um okay look at a little power-ups um got some packs here um okay so that's the store so let's look at
how can we do the gun buy a vehicle tweet facebook for a free vehicle okay that's not bad or buy for 50. i've actually got 15. oh so she's just okay so she's just giving me um some currency that's always good we always like to see kind of i wasn't encouraging um it's a good thing to do obviously doing to um give people some ingo game currency because it just gets them using the store um and kind of shows them kind of the the advantage you can have for for buying stuff so okay so this one's the same 50 caliber machine gun upgrade um okay so so you buy the gun and then you have a damaged clip size fire rate and accuracy so um i guess i'm just looking for perform
okay so we'll do weapons looks like i think you probably have four different and things you can upgrade on obviously some of the weapons more powerful ones you have to so this one the gatling gun tier three weapon requires 20 missions before you can unlock it that's before you can unlock it you obviously still have to buy it this one the super 12 right gun you can have a demo that's what that do okay so it just takes me that's just a video that's quite nice anyway we'll see what we got so we've got plenty of money we can upgrade okay oh so going upgrade one thing at a time let's have more in three minutes all right okay okay so that's uh gunner z you kind of
gets a cross between kind of um csr racing or uh yeah csr racing and a zombie gunship i'll see if it does as well as those two games do you
Gunner Z, a mobile title developed by BitMonster, blends the mechanics of vehicle-based combat with zombie-themed survival. The gameplay centers on controlling a weaponized cherry-picker truck to defend against waves of enemies, requiring players to manage weapon overheating and tactical positioning. The experience emphasizes a progression loop where players earn currency to upgrade vehicle armor, fire rates, and ammunition capacity, while also unlocking new hardware through mission completion or direct purchase.
The monetization strategy employs a dual-currency system consisting of soft and hard currencies, alongside a variety of premium items. Players can purchase currency packs ranging from $0.99 to $99.99, or opt for a $5.00 permanent money doubler to accelerate progression. The game also integrates incentivized advertising, allowing users to watch videos to earn currency or repair items, effectively lowering the barrier to entry for premium features. Additionally, the developer encourages social engagement by offering free in-game assets in exchange for Facebook interactions, a tactic designed to familiarize players with the store interface and the tangible benefits of premium upgrades.
The game’s progression structure includes time-gated upgrades, where improvements to weaponry require waiting periods unless bypassed by currency. Certain high-tier weapons are further restricted by mission-count requirements, ensuring a steady engagement cadence. By combining elements of vehicle customization seen in racing titles with the wave-based defense style of established zombie shooters, the game aims to balance accessible free-to-play mechanics with aggressive conversion points. The overall design reflects a standard mobile industry approach to retention and monetization, leveraging both direct microtransactions and ad-supported engagement to sustain the player experience.
