Create free accounthello so we're uh we're in berlin there's a few companies and uh you've got an interesting one do you want to introduce yourself and uh tell us a little bit about the company you work for and what you're up to in mobile gaming sure uh so my name is manuel fijak i'm head of mobile operations here in arie games berlin what it means is that been in charge of launching our mobile games in europe mobile games that have been previously launched in the in the us in the english language and uh one thing that we're doing in array games that's pretty uh different from other companies when we're launching to different territories such as like uh our game monster paradise that was a really big success in english we're launching it in other languages such as french or spanish and or our upcoming game immortalis that is going to be released in german and we're putting a lot more work into making the game uh not only localized but like being handled such as forced things such as events um and many
other things uh directly by your team here because a lot of companies talk about oh we're going to localize our game or translate it into like nine different languages and not that you do that but you're doing you're talking much more about kind of live operations yes yes the translation is only the beginning that's what we obviously need to do but we are actually running a different game you can actually have several version of each one of the games installed on your phone because you could have the english one the german one the french one being installed uh because they are run by different teams events are another different schedule everything else can be changed for uh each language each community of players and be suited to that community and actually you were showing showing us some numbers recently and actually the french version of marxist paradise was performing better than the english version yes we're quite happy to say that in that jar monster paradise has been the most successful card game uh on the french market it's ranked uh
quite a few like actually uh constantly in the top 20 uh gross top grossing apps which is quite a success for a game that's not that well known i mean like we're not uh yet they're really big hitters but uh we will definitely be and like that's uh and if we are that's going to be partly due to this logic of uh going really really closer to our players and so the games you've had at the moment are all kind of card games but you you're showing us you've got your first strategy yes we are going to publish directly in germany a game that has been extremely successful in china that is called checkmate and is a world war ii themed uh strategy game uh it's partly real-time partly term-based and with really amazing artwork as you may have seen and but you're launching first in the german market so yes i think you find that okay john's like strategy games but it's not that many germans compared to americans uh well actually yeah well the
the european market does not have the same size as the the us market however uh being in the top 10 apps uh in germany something that's uh with the proper dedication is something that we are definitely hoping to achieve quite soon uh as you may know it's not such an easy deal to do in the u.s market so it might be better to be number one in germany than being number 250 in the u.s although we're doing much better than 250 in the us as well great thank you
Aeria Games Europe is prioritizing a localized live operations strategy to expand its mobile gaming footprint across European territories throughout 2013. Rather than relying on simple linguistic translation, the company emphasizes the creation of distinct, region-specific versions of its titles. By maintaining separate teams for different languages, the company can tailor in-game events, schedules, and community management to the specific cultural preferences of players in markets like France and Germany. This approach treats each regional version as a unique product, allowing for independent optimization and community engagement.
The effectiveness of this strategy is evidenced by the performance of the card game Monster Paradise, which achieved significant success in the French market. By focusing on deep localization, the title consistently ranked within the top 20 grossing applications in France, outperforming its English-language counterpart in that specific region. This success validates the company's philosophy that high-touch, localized management can drive stronger engagement and revenue than a broad, one-size-fits-all international release.
Looking forward, the company is diversifying its portfolio beyond card games by introducing strategy titles, such as the World War II-themed game Checkmate, to the German market. While acknowledging that the European market is smaller than the United States in total volume, the company argues that achieving a top-tier ranking in a specific European country is a more viable and profitable goal than struggling for visibility in the highly saturated U.S. market. By leveraging dedicated local operations, the company aims to secure dominant positions in key European territories, proving that focused regional strategies can yield substantial competitive advantages.
