someone would just go to a location just shoot many people it's hard to it's Ardath I'll get to the I'll get to my thoughts on it later but what is so we had an active shooter at two separate situations Dayton Ohio El Paso Texas who had gone to a location and just kind of getting some seemed some feedback saying our mic is pretty low is there Mike okay now guys hello look man I can reason no don't raise it 75% is correct I'm seeing the feedback just fine just let us know on twitch well you could probably just raise that bar a little bit then well this is our normal volume turn your volume keep us know it's alright so to active shooters two separate locations many lives lost obviously every time this happens it sparks gun control debates its parts lots of social media bickering going back and forth on what we should be doing to you know prevent these problems
we see the same means of you know how many guns are in these other countries versus how many guns in America and then how many lives lost in America due to senseless gun violence mass shootings etc etc and all the jokes of oh it can't be stopped in the only place where it continues to happen all the time so we've all seen all of that sorry we're working through a technical issue while we're trying to nearing the end of my point so the issue that we're seeing right now is like once again we have people who are I guess in charge of governing our country turning the blind eye or placing the blame and not taking any sort of action like we get the same rehearsin rewashed kind of rhetoric from our domestic leaders who attribute the the loss of lives and the senseless acts of violence to mental illness to you know video
games being to ultraviolent and to available and social media apparently is now thrown in the ring as well but we never actually look at well even if that's the case right like what can we do about the guns themselves because those seem to be the things that people keep using to senselessly kill all these guys I've seen every piece of evidence oh you can kill someone with a rock you ever tried to kill 40 people with a rock in two minutes yeah I always try to when there's an argument that is polarizing I always try to look at both signs so I really do think there is a possibility of limiting certain guns right but I also understand that side of where this is more like a mental health issue more so than a gun issue because there's for everyone terrorist sure right there's thousands and even millions of gun owners that know how to handle it
correct sure I agree and even myself not going out up around guns I there is trepidation to hold on and of course with my type of experience I would lean on the other side of the fence more where I'm like why do you need guns but I personally feel like that's mostly because I'm not familiarize with it too much and I need to sure right get into that more to understand and appreciate our basic human rights so owning one of these fire weapons yeah I actually across the board in general I can say this like I'm familiar with gun culture gun life and the thrill of being able to shoot automatic weapons long-range rifles you know pistols like I actually enjoyed doing that it's something that I've enjoyed something I love and I can see why somebody else would have that same enjoyment especially if you actually are trained you've gone to safety classes or you go to the range or you use your weapons properly you lock them up you
keep the safeties like I know there are responsible gun owners out there so like I don't have any beefs or columns with anybody who is you know safe responsible and enjoying something that they love right like I'm not gonna stop if you like shooting guns and you go somewhere to do it safe and it's under control and it's regulated Who am I to care you're doing everything that we want right the issue that I I guess that we're seeing right now is that like but there are people out there who are doing it wrong mm-hmm there are people out there who should not have access to such high-powered weaponry and they're getting it how some way yeah and then people are losing their lives yeah and uh that that's a process that without knowing how much knowledge goes into actually acquiring one of these fire weapons I would have assumed I would assume it's not as easy as people make it out to be where you just go to a Walmart and just buy a gun and some bullets and you're good to go from what I've heard in arguments on the other side there is a process in place yes to
actually go through and get certified and and actually be able to handle one of these things depends on the state but for the most part you can at least expect to apply to get reviewed and then right there's like a legitimate process there is a process okay it's a very state to state from what I've seen so far right but for the most part it's not like you just walk in there and just push and then you walk right there is paperwork at least taken so there's that step yeah and the only reason why we're talking about this on games recount one of the main many reasons is because the time yeah the time and in the house yeah issued a like an angel statement blaming violent really videogames it's the same press release all the time and it's a really old it's a very old argument in this stage the same way that I don't want to put that type of blame on other like people fire owners got fired at firearm violence right yeah because that's the same type of thing when they
tune is like I I play video games or I own a gun you know it's like why you saying as if everybody that owns or plays you know is resulting to this so we kind of empathize with each other in that regard and because it's such an easy finger to point out if you don't own a gun or you never play Kansas right it's like Oh obviously those people are not me I see what they're doing with it once once simulating it and once actually it so that must be the problem yeah it's it's a dangerous type of thinking and again just to like to reiterate here that like there is such thing as a responsible gun owner any every gun owner should be a responsible gun owner you know everyone has the right to bear arms that is an American citizen in this country therefore I don't have a problem with people buying guns I don't have a problem with the gun industry I have a problem with when it goes bad seeing how people who can do things about it don't do things about it and that's really what it comes down to
I'm not mad that pistols exist I'm not mad that high-power assault rifles bump I don't care whatever technologies exist that make guns more deadly or more harmful like I understand you know because I know in safe hands are in the right situation that could be friends who gone to a shooting range and just blew through like four hundred dollars worth of ammunition and I had a great time yeah like you and my friends did for me yeah and nobody got hurt we all went and we all enjoyed ourselves because we were in a situation that made sense given what we were trying to do yeah but on the other side of it is I guess where I'm starting to have problems is people will blame mental health and they'll say like oh it's and maybe that's my own perception just being skewed or stretched too thin where someone says it's mental health issues its mental health issues but then when you see some of these people who carry out the crimes it's like oh it's like you can see like a methodical approach to it and then you see this big event where they've killed twenty five thirty people you know what I mean and so it's harder for me to just be like oh it's
just mental health and that might be my own bias to like are you are you looking down on this person saying that they're there Table two they're handicapped in some way because they're actually showing a lot of high level thought and function it just seems like they've become radicalized you know what I mean more so than their lacking something mentally that stops them it's more like know their their brain was working just fine it's that their goal was to kill yeah and they radicalized and became a killer you know yeah it's a it's an issue that not a lot of people understand it is again a group that is being pushed and blamed too the fact of the matter is that for someone to carry out a crime like that even if they are methodical about it it's a certain emotional out birthright to for them to snap yeah to finally uh either to seek approval or attention or whatever the cause is it it
shows instability right at the very least me so even if someone is very indifferent to the crime that I commit right where they just carry it as if it's an errand right there's something mentally not there for it not to connect with the the crime with the actual humans that they're taking away right their lives that they're taken away so again the mental health issue is a huge issue and there's there's so many branches to it that to again to clump all that into one and say mental health offends a lot of people going through mental health issues yeah so this is a place where usually people mourn or they argue and all these stuff about what's going on the sad part about all of this is it's a cycle that people eventually forget yeah
right it's hot right now mainly because it just happened give it a week or two people are gonna move on to the next thing which is a very sad thing about it it is completely cyclical it's been called out it's been pointed but nothing has been done about it and that's why it continues to be cyclical we have I keep forgetting the image but it's something like mass shooting happens thoughts and prayers online debating like now nothing happens people forget yeah I'm actually and it just keeps rolling and it and honestly that's exactly what is happening we are such a polarized country in regards to this issue specifically that's just incredible that we can't both be right and just try to work out a solution right like I don't understand that part yeah I have no problem with gun owners none whatsoever I enjoy guns like got a pistol I don't want that to be taken from me I think it's important everyone in the country to have some kind of gun education like going through the gun range just realizing how little I know about it and
how how loud it is in real life is very surprising because I thought growing up playing games and being somewhat more exposed in the average citizen is is gonna help me with that but when I went there I was completely new to the idea and to me it is even more dangerous not to understand the basics of handling a gun or understanding I don't know to differentiate what type of what types are there right even through sound I think that'd be very beneficial is like Oh Larry that's the automatic we need to get out of here thousand rounds I'm running I'm running yeah it's not even a joke that's like it's it is a very scary condition but it's like it's a once you're next to those things man it is scary loud like I am it frightens me just to listen to him when we go back to that then that memory
of shooting automatic rifles in Vegas yeah I think I shot like an ak-47 because it's a it's a common gun yeah game industry I I did the feels like a Call of Duty package whatever yeah where I got to shoot like a K like pistol and like just whatever it doesn't matter but when I had a take a yeah and I was just letting it fly the sound and the force because I never felt it before there's my first time shooting an ak-47 I was like man anybody in front of me right now is minced meat was frightening it is like I don't have to be accurate I don't even have to be good there I can miss and still mess them up yeah it was it was it was an experience yeah the dehumanization is I think the main cause of these type of mass shootings all right and I feel like with the online presence of everybody being more and more present that it's gonna be a lot easier for people to commit crimes like this because they don't associate
you as a person right or anything less than and it could be a combination of information being more readily available so we hear more things like this I I do feel like it's happening more but it also lends to how how us as a society have been just I don't know feeding into this beast of the internet right and all this anonymous commentary and all this stuff and people are easily getting disconnected from society that it can cause people to snap more yeah and people just just show up and just carry it out right because you don't see a reaction or any more as much in person like I said something awful you felt it I can see that you felt fill it everyone's feeling bad we're missing that whole last component when it comes
to human interaction and when people carry out these things I I feel like more like a cry of attention I mean not just in sympathize with the killers there's a run you're just trying to understand their psyche because it's happening more sure and obviously to get to the root of the problem you got a I think best to look at these individuals and asked what's going on like what is within their personal lives that is driving them to this point to to cry for attention be well what's interesting is the in the case of the the Walmart shooting there's they had found like right on the social media account like guns spelling out Trump and then like a kind of like a manifesto where he's like oh I'm attacking the Hispanic community because and uh so I'm saying this based off of memory so I got easily go fact check this if you need to but from what I recall when I was reading this over the weekend guns I that spelled out like Trump like as a photo on his social media and then like
a manifesto like why he had driven all this way to go to this specific Walmart because it was heavily populated by Hispanics and Hispanics were viewed as the enemy yeah this was like radicalization in my opinion and so there was like why didn't he post it two three days before well cuz he could have got stopped on the way his what someone was saying and like that's why he did in the parking lot and like put all that stuff so that there was no mystery as to like why other than he knew that like he was serving his country he thought he was serving his country or he was serving as president or he was serving the cause for helping remove a foreign threat like literally our most adjacent foreign threat possible other than Canada obviously sure and it could be just a guy who just wanted Street people and he provided excuses you know we don't know like someone laying out conveniently their plans to carry out a horrendous act could be looked at as yes he's trying to justify it but also a way to distract and cause more chaos like
someone who causes chaos would prolly like hey his feet in the hate and let me just do this last thing and like like the divide right I mean it's been a year or two or three years we know the Russians are behind a lot of these forums now like there's a there's a bigger divide than ever with in this country on all sorts of topics like I feel is like polarizing on both side and feeding into this too is is kind of like that that language of I don't know I feel like everything is kind of leading up to that we're not usually a political show I don't like to go into politics I think it's always best to look at these individuals as individuals it's like what's going on with you like what let it you know how isolated were you how how much in solace or solitude were you before you carry this act what are the steps he's taken and I was sure personal attributions could be the is so you saying like it
could be just he was interested in raising a euro notice we thought would that opinion change if you knew that there was like a long history of like complete outward expression of hate or derogative thought towards specific communities or genders oh yeah there was a history if there's a history then you can trace it to this and that okay but I don't agree I'm just asking yeah I don't agree this the stance against you know just blaming it on the president the Trump like I'm not a trump supporter or anything but it just seems like a cop a lot of the times when we look at these perpetrators yeah right and if anything I try to look at the very beginning before the divine of people right we all don't want this shooting to happen all right what are the commonalities from both sides that we can do to help because the finger-pointing thing never helps like
now they're blaming game developers our gamers our industry and or pointing at the gun control the people with the guns so you want to piss those guys huh but they're like that's why there is never an agreement because before assessing the issues we're constantly pointing at a group as the cause of the problem and it's just ignorance being thrown around and doesn't solve anything people are just like you said we gossip in facebook and then we move on the beneficiaries don't want anything to be solved because they have essentially everything that they want they have a free market for being able to sell firearms yeah they have a domestic audience that is I mean sure polarized but enough customers here that want to buy so many firearms that we like far out mass other countries per capita for who owns firearms yeah we have the most gun violence in our country which means two things you killed somebody with a gun or someone killed you with a gun either way if I'm the one that sold the gun that
was a sale yeah we have a healthy gun culture in this country I mean it's written into our Constitution the right yeah yeah like so so from the but then from the lawmaker standpoint right they also I I know for sure are often in cahoots with you know high-ranking or very well-paid right gun companies organizations that give campaign benefits give campaign contributions or just even workout stuff under the table that we don't even know about there's a lot of seeds that connect there which they probably don't want to stop because it's beneficial to everyone involved right there and and they're not gonna stop it the general public alone people who have guns aren't gonna want to give it up I mean why would they here's a very interesting thought actually from Akito be Trump has a powerful social presence though and a lot of responsibility should come with that I feel like Trump incites violence
well if Trump straight-up says go and attack so-and-so right that is something that is very dangerous of course anybody who is a celebrity or empower that incitement like actual incite violence is against the law right you can't do that you can't invoke well he especially violence I think some of the stuff that I've heard him say his tiptoed around it but even that's strong enough because these aren't kindergarteners that he's talking to yeah right as much as I may want a joke yeah he's not talking to kinder girl right right in the window people can read between the lines right so but that's a dangerous line right that's what I mean like it's a very dangerous line because then it can flip to any other political sides right it's like hey this person through innuendo told me to do this yeah and that can happen to Trump but also the opposite of truth and that is very dangerous grounds to say that that this guy is responsible
for the mass shooting all right we don't want that one are you saying it's dangerous to say that Trump is responsible for it's dangerous to say that without actual people saying it right because people can take interpret interpretations in every which way that makes sense to their agenda right oh yeah which is again I'm always in the middle because when it comes to polarizing opinions like going to the root of things and seeing what the commonality is to fix an issue is way more important than picking sides because I feel like there's a lot of strings happening a to incite that type of behavior and I don't want to be a part of that the picking of sides is the stupidest part of it it's a very City person is the one thing that is keeping anything from being done where both sides can be happy yeah like and that's but because of it it keeps the people who would be responsible for putting together the legislature and actually contributing resources or you know action items to making these things come
through right they have to do no work because we literally can't get to a point or like all right look we'll all agree that like we have the right to bear arms we all need to be responsible so here's by country yeah what it means to be responsible it cares by country what it means to be a gun owner right and then here's what we're going to do to make sure that only people in that category will get the access and if you lose the access could you get it back maybe but here's how and if you are deemed to not have access to it it's because of XY and Z and we can all agree we need to start chopping down that list and get to a point where if not everyone can sign we are a democracy yeah enough people more than 51% of however we have to make it work well it's like look this is what our reform is it's not if I say I want gun control I don't mean I want gun elimination yeah I want safety I want security I don't want anything other than that I don't want people to lose their right to enjoy weaponry because I know it can be used responsibly I've seen it and I've done it myself I'd be a hypocrite you know
what I mean the great part of the nation uses guns responsibly obviously otherwise we'll be complete chaos so yeah I always stand on that side because it's the same thing I just always advise people when we talk about when these issues happen to look at the issues alone right who is this person what's HAP why did they lead up to this point in their life where they feel like this was the best action to take right can we avoid this what I'm afraid of is what I'm seeing is a lot of people using this people using this as a as an argument for whatever perspective that I have yeah yeah because then it's just distraction now we're talking about games and we go down that rabbit hole and we're taught spending all this time limiting and and and and putting ratings on games when it has nothing to do with the general issue of what happens if you for tonight didn't exist whatsoever
yeah do you think that an event like this would just cease from happen no of course we're not didn't exist before yeah exactly so like the argument goes on the gun control side like people with guns seems like why are you talking about this like my neighbors and I didn't shoot anyone anybody that has responsibility that follows the rules still have the guns and don't have a criminal record right so I just wanted to veer off from going down that path again which people are gonna bring up the issues again is it games is it bad and we're gonna see weeks and weeks of that and then it's gonna die down in interest and people move on until it happens again you know where we as a nation I feel like and I don't want to use this lightly because it's half in jest but not to be joking but to be like more like a comedy or a comedian uses humor to also like sharply stab you with some truth yeah we've become really desensitized to ultra violent mass units yes in a sense we're like there was an Inc I this is
another one of those I'm going off of memory because I was reading all this this weekend so I admittedly say that first but there was either an anchor or a report or somewhere they were like oh they had mixed up which mass shooting it was right like you they made a mistake or like Trump saying Toledo now right yeah not knowing El Paso as oh my god yeah that's a bad like there's that look it again you can make a mistake you can make an accent it could be a flub of the mat like I understand but I'm just I'm just trying to illustrate a point that like it has gotten so bad so often that like I've seen comments where people are like a big mass shooting happens and then immediately that becomes agenda weaponized yeah I've seen like a lot of black people will be like oh look here's you know one black person who got beat the [ __ ] up or here's another black person get murdered for you know traffic stop selling cigarettes selling you know Park being at Walmart with a gun that they had at Walmart that he was just carrying to a cash register versus someone going
to Walmart killing a bunch of people rent and being walked out unscathed like I've already seen those types of comparisons I've seen everyone like immediately weaponized this tragedy whereas I'm like holy [ __ ] guys 20 [ __ ] people yeah it's done yeah I'm not even over that part yet yeah you know what I mean Street that's the same like to see it immediately become ammunition again yeah that part that part hurts a little bit yeah yeah I mean we're supposed to be in this together right and everybody wants the same thing they don't want this to happen yeah so let's start from there right before you do any finger-pointing let's do some research and the dangerous part is they keep clumping these together as let you see again it happens it's like let's look at the individual looked at the situation and see what's going on how did he obtain his firearms some of these guys sometimes obtain it legally right alright what are the problems it's not to say gun owners can't suddenly have mental problems or they have it
mental issues and maybe what maybe that's too too easy of a thing to obtain yeah so like you're saying slipping through the filter is less likely right like going in ahead of time you might have passed everything yeah but then life changes something happens to you where for example I don't imagine I would ever see you in jail but I that might change if somebody tried to hurt your son exactly I mean exactly situational changed especially owning firearms is the same thing of obtaining driver license a certain age you you're not as physically able that's why they require you by law to keep the tests keep being the test so there are measures in place to prevent things like this from happening the same way we're not saying all gun owners are killers right not all mental health issues people have the tendency to be violent right so it's uh it's very dangerous to kind of clump groups of people together without any prior
research and it's such an easy cop-out for a lot of people to kind of blame industries yeah or certain problems nothing is getting done based on the things we've done it's all distraction you guys do your own research and just look at the individual and the killer himself here's a good comment I want to throw out there it would be interesting debate for us Canton real life says the problem is that any single issue that anyone can bring up is still not the answer it's a combination of many contributing factors none of which alone are the lone root cause yeah so I can respect that viewpoint and say like yeah like to do one thing may not fix the damn you know I would actually love to see the one thing at least be a step closer though like if we can all agree that like hey this part about what we have right now let's fix that part yeah let's let's just focus on that one piece and then let's focus on the next piece and let's focus on the next piece we may not be able to just make one sweeping stroke that will make everyone happy but people are dying because we have not done a single thing you know what I mean and that that is the critical importance
for me which is well we can't just do nothing we can't keep doing nothing because people are gonna keep dying we're gonna keep doing that cycle of like all [ __ ] thoughts and prayers oh it was so such a tragedy it's a shame how this and that means this guns that people that silence yeah another mass shooting yeah naturally people want to know the reason why after or while they're mourning right so as a nation we are mourning we're all looking at the situation is like what's going on we turn to our president and I like him or not I think it is irresponsible for him to kind of just blame a thing right without any research pointing into that direction it's not like the winners of this guy's room and even if you did it I just stacked up doom right the classic doom it doesn't make any sense because of every person that plays video games that happen to like kill massive enough amount of
people there are millions more that are doing just fine it's something about video games in America apparently because everywhere else where there's video games we're not seeing these same issues so apparently something something in our water yeah yeah you know like drinking the Gatorade that yeah I'm an American while eating the American Doritos right or whatever gamer stereotypes you have all of that plus the guns being available is why you're the only place that is having such a significant problem with gun violence you know I mean yeah the available availability of guns and people that likes playing games right it's the same ratio as anyone watching movies or absorbing entertainment right everyone is exposed to violence one way or another how you consume it should not matter right we're not at a state where video games are so realistic that you can't tell from faking reality right
until VR and matrix becomes a thing that is not a viable argument the data does not show that there's a direct correlation between video games and violent acts I've worked with a ton of video game developers who have all made ultra violent games like or let's just say games that involve guns shooting people killing people obviously I worked a little bit on for tonight Call of Duty we worked on you worked on Bioshock Lost Planet 3 we worked on together I've worked on even my own shooters and just a little progress based in shooters every single person in that whole group of people that we've all worked with who like literally for eight hours a day and now have to be working on this ultraviolence and then some you know not one that I can think of has gone off and committed such a heinous act of course not right and I would even go out to say that playing games and violent video the first person shooters my thing when we went to the gun range hello it was my first real exposure I was scared shitless oh they holy crap this is a
our whole piece of device here and instead of me just like looking down on that community of like why the hell would you need this type of hardware right I'm thinking more of like how can i educate myself so I'm not so scared about this or why is it so being so misunderstood right because it is scary and a lot of that is just because I'm not exposed to it as much and so like I imagine the gun community you know growing up around firearms it's just an everyday part of life it's part of their swiss army keychain and it's just a thing that they have and they use it they practice it doesn't make everyone a cold-hearted killer right yeah so I think with the issues that are happening right now in such a polarizing country it's either yes or no is which is insane like everybody should look at this and work towards the solution that everybody wants so without clumping all these issues onto a certain group right
because as soon as that happens it's just going back to weaponizing and pushing your own agenda it totally ignores all the victims and totally ignores I wouldn't even say the killer right like within days people are blaming things and I don't even know who this person is that actually committed the crime like why exactly is the problem that that's driving people like him to do this type of thing and it could be very situational I know it sucks it really does suck I didn't I didn't know that it was back to back yeah like thought man which is this was very Saturday it was just a tough weekend I was just on my youth like usual internet Facebook and then you posted something that someone survived the Las Vegas is that a true story no there was three people who would
survive the garland Rory thank you the Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting were also people who had survived the Vegas that it's so promising twice that's traumatize it's crazy getting somewhere and just gunfire and that's a true story it's not one of those like ok ok yeah it's hard to tell now online way everyone's a news outlet sure fair enough yeah yeah so look the reason why we're having this conversation today is because of Italian on blaming it on video games which I don't support I think that I see people using video games responsibly and I see people who are using irresponsibly like oh the eight-year-old who has a copy of Grand Theft Auto because their parents bought it for him yeah we've done our part we made the content and then we also have a ratings board who says 18 plus we have also made sure that stores won't sell it to the 8 year old yeah so the game industry actually does what it can to
make sure that the people who should be enjoying content are able to yeah and the people who should not well he got so bad at one point you remember that the ESRB was being examined if their ratings were correct or not remember they tried to rip off because some kid bought the 18 plus not that some kid a parent bought it from and the parents not taking responsibility blame the rating as like this is not true rated R or whatever right it's the foolish is its tomfoolery it's stupid but it went through a cycle like that many many many times you know blaming on video games has been a part of our language since doom the original doom right people don't want to take responsibility I was very surprised that they're still using the excuse it's like it's a phenomenon now like fortnight had ushered in a new generation of shooters people are exposed to it some way you know that they can look at it and be able to tell with their children if it's
having a negative effect so the same way that the Trump administration kind of had a knee-jerk reaction saying that oh you're blaming me no it's not me it's video games a shifting blame is kind of immature in my opinion and they expect a little bit more class before blaming such a huge industry of people and again it creates that distress right more research should be done about this if not already to dive into the psyche of a person that pulls the trigger right whatever that is we need better answers right - to actually prevent that from happening telling people not to play games and not own guns is not going to prevent that from happening ever I mean there are countries - shows it if we play the
excuse game all day if we ever get to the point where we've done all the law changes in legislation and sure let's attack all the excuses more and more people are still gonna die and then eventually we run out of excuses so then what yeah we're just waiting for the next thing that happened it was the air and yeah I'm sorry this crummy observation but anyway guys yeah for this episode thank you so much guys for tuning in we are gonna continuously discuss thank you for everyone that is tuning in live of course bring your comments into the comment section when we upload this on youtube later please stay tuned as we are gonna start invisible walls real soon and that's gonna happen within five to ten minutes shout out everyone on Twitch thanks again for riding with us be safe out there [Music]
The recurring cycle of mass shootings in the United States frequently triggers political rhetoric that attempts to deflect accountability by scapegoating the video game industry. This narrative, which posits a causal link between interactive media and real-world violence, is fundamentally unsupported by empirical evidence. International data consistently demonstrates that high levels of gaming consumption do not correlate with increased rates of gun violence, suggesting that such claims serve as a convenient distraction from more complex societal issues. The industry already maintains robust, self-regulated rating systems designed to manage content accessibility, further undermining the argument that games are a primary driver of radicalization or violent behavior.
Political polarization remains the primary obstacle to addressing the root causes of mass violence. By weaponizing tragedies to advance partisan agendas, leaders often bypass substantive discussions regarding gun regulation, mental health reform, and the psychological factors that contribute to individual radicalization. This gridlock prevents the implementation of common-sense safety measures that could potentially satisfy both responsible gun owners and advocates for public safety. Instead of engaging in unproductive finger-pointing, the focus must shift toward understanding the specific circumstances that lead to violence.
Ultimately, the tendency to blame gaming is an unfounded distraction that hinders the development of effective policy. Meaningful progress requires moving beyond the cycle of desensitization and political maneuvering to address the multifaceted nature of gun violence. By prioritizing evidence-based solutions over industry scapegoating, society can better confront the underlying issues of individual psychological health and systemic policy failures. A collaborative approach, centered on accountability and nuanced regulation, is essential to breaking the current impasse and preventing future tragedies.
