The organization plans to keep them linked to the brand until they secure placements with other teams.
The Brazilian esports organization FURIA has officially announced its departure from the Rainbow Six Siege competitive scene, ending a tenure that began in 2020. The organization intends to remain linked to its current players and staff until they can secure placements with other teams. While the exit is immediate, leadership has not ruled out a potential return to the title in the future.
The primary driver for this decision is a perceived lack of adequate support from publisher Ubisoft regarding revenue generation. FURIA leadership noted that the organization struggles to monetize its involvement in the game, a challenge compounded by insufficient efforts from the publisher to expand the game’s audience and exposure. This lack of visibility has hindered the organization's ability to attract and retain the necessary brand partnerships and sponsorships required to sustain a competitive presence.
This move follows a broader trend of organizational contraction within the industry. FURIA is the second major team to exit the Rainbow Six Siege ecosystem in early 2023, following a similar announcement from the North American organization TSM. Furthermore, both organizations recently exited the Free Fire Mobile esports scene in Brazil, citing comparable frustrations regarding developer communication and a lack of institutional support. These departures highlight growing concerns among professional esports organizations regarding the long-term financial viability of specific game titles under current publisher-led models.
