Create free accounthello and welcome to Pocket Gamer dot fizzes first time user experience channel so in this we look at the first 10 minutes of new free-to-play mobile games so start the stopwatch and let's fire up a game so the game we're looking at today is from Glu Mobile it's called sniper X and it is lose tie-in with the action hero Jason Statham so glue this copy kind of kind of better known for games like Kim Kardashian and it's got deals with Britney Spears and Katy Perry and the like but Jason Statham is its first kind of male kind of hero celebrity these there's nobody I guess he is so asking this for push notifications that's a bit kind of fun that's a bit odd these days often in terms of the first first time user experience the push notification prompt is pushed further into the into the tutorial process so at least you
play through this you tour least you don't ask someone to select push notifications until later he played the game the theory about that is push notification is very powerful but if you ask people to early on in the process then they're gonna default to know because I don't we know what the games can be like I guess the argument could be then it up again even that delay anyway so maybe not losing anything but um okay so Glu Mobile pretty well known the moment fought apart from Kim Kardashian pretty much known for its hardcore kind of games his little so just kind of shooter games under the sniper brand and also its frontline commando brand so technically you notice that makes shooter games so let's see it tap on the eye and follow the prompts you know we get on see what kind of
experience it gives us obviously Jason's voice is gonna be pretty forward in this so go a little bit seem take them out sir you know come on so we gotta stop him taking them out I guess scope him I'm gonna scope him yeah I've scoped him up scoped him I'm scoping him it's probably gonna be hunted from this angle but um let's see swipes phone target focus well I'm not I can't okay tell me take the shot Oh lose it off there's no weight loss is it clean sweep okay so I'm very be movie dig dig dig so it's tutorials work showing us how to use the sniper to zoom in on that one
okay so looks like a bit of a bit of XP game on there looks like we've got two currencies a soft crunchy hard can't see pretty standard eternity clues game these games are very focused on hard currency okay so three minutes in okay so I mean because they expect from Glu very hot very polished user interface so I'm gonna zoom in with this that where is the chip now this one's gonna be runnin around he's putting shooting back at me I guess big boot boot boot boot no ice we know one son right
the mass no muscle its kick-out okay cups everywhere must be a different try and tell me oh there we go so getting some rewards leveled up as well got some more rewards whatever mission I suspect just supposed to be me let's go okay so hopefully this point they're not really going into the metagame not going into any living up of the weapon or anything like that it's just purely about what you do in the game we're going to shoot these exploding barrels I guess they can explode Oh Rudin it okay so via 17 wait game so there's a chat there I can't see him no he's gonna shoot that barrel yeah probably blown off my specs
goodness make more rude words so I'll just see what glue game for here put getting a celebrity in and dialing up the movie dialogue so five minutes in shot few people don't shoot it okay
don't listen okay so now getting going to it again I'm gonna have to upgrade our rifle which is am right never luck gonna pay some money soft currency expected category so I can do the zoom of capacity
fund and kill all objectives to objectives okay so we've got these two going oh I thought maybe after work and objectives are maybe that's the point you know when I toggle me that's the one he's walking around it makes it difficult me gonna stop and be honest not gonna win it okay get that no keep going good night
well you said he was a priority yeah we got a bit of physics dropped his gun bouncy bouncy leveled up okay so we're getting as she told us go this is quite nice a giving you to do quite a lot of gameplay it's not choking particularly the metagame it's very reinforcing it's very well done well done well done and now we've actually for the first time now we've seen probably what's the actual screen so this thing we can trainer and cache here we've got different weapons we've got I mean this guy here is but kind of stuff bouncing around starter pack so so
melee we've seen this is a purchased pack so this is 11 pounds $15 supposedly but I can buy it now for four pounds five dollars like a this gun and invade a pro AR with burst fire a spotter 10 so that instantly IDs all my targets or do the ID things that speeds me up I get hundred fifty gold no it only got 45 gold and hen I get rid of ads forever so we get an idea we're gonna get ads in that one don't give me as in the game which is not a lot of big surprise for Glu Glu tends to give the games so we've basically got no money since the game taking us through the game we've done some mission stuff that's pretty good I think it's your Torres guy that that's I mean that's a pretty good experience it's nice and smooth I guess you could argue you've gone straight from the tutorial into this which is now a bit more confusing there's all this stuff going on maybe not knowing and they know what's going on them but maybe some
people have said the biggest issue with tutorials is not the tutorial the flow be sure is not be quite good the big drop off you often see with with people in games is what's the tutorial ends the hem hand-holding process has gone and then people feel like oh we're doing now which I potentially might doing this experience because it's quite graphics quite a lot going on I'm probably press on this one can there that's the mission structure anyway cyber X with a voice of Jason Statham interesting interesting move from Glu probably won't be a Kim Kardashian form but potentially will see their sniper as the sniper game will be better for them than their brand new sniper games so we'll keep an eye on it we'll probably do another video monetize the video bit further in the game looking at the monetization itself to come back subscribe to our channel and check it out and we'll see you soon with another first time user experience video see you then bye
Sniper X with Jason Statham, a free-to-play mobile title developed by Glu Mobile, utilizes a celebrity-driven strategy to engage players within the static shooter genre. The game integrates the voice and persona of Jason Statham to provide a high-production, thematic experience that distinguishes it from the developer’s previous celebrity-focused titles. The onboarding process prioritizes immediate gameplay, delaying intrusive prompts like push notification requests until the player has established a baseline engagement with the core mechanics.
The first ten minutes of the experience focus on core shooting mechanics, utilizing a guided tutorial that introduces target acquisition, zooming, and environmental interaction, such as shooting explosive barrels. The game employs a dual-currency system—soft and hard—and rewards players with experience points and loot upon mission completion. The interface is polished and responsive, maintaining a consistent flow that transitions players from basic combat tutorials into weapon upgrades and mission objectives without overwhelming them with complex metagame systems early on.
Monetization strategies are introduced shortly after the initial tutorial phase, featuring a starter pack that offers premium weapons, gold, and the permanent removal of advertisements. While the tutorial effectively manages player hand-holding, the transition to the broader game menu introduces a significant increase in visual information and structural complexity. This shift highlights a common industry challenge where the removal of guided instruction can lead to player confusion. Ultimately, the game leverages its celebrity tie-in and established shooter mechanics to create a cohesive, albeit aggressive, monetization-focused experience that targets a hardcore mobile audience.
