The ESL FACEIT Group and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) have announced the launch of the second season of eFIBA, an international competitive gaming series centered on the NBA 2K24 title. Scheduled to begin on October 3, the tournament aims to foster global participation by featuring national teams from more than 30 countries across four continents, including Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
The competition utilizes a 5v5 format within the ProAM game mode on the PlayStation 5 platform. The structure of the season spans six weeks, consisting of regional qualifiers and finals that serve as a pathway for teams to qualify for an in-person, LAN-based World Finals event.
This initiative is supported by a broader multi-year agreement between FIBA, 2K Games, and the NBA 2K League. The partnership is designed to professionalize the international esports landscape by establishing a standardized national team competition system. Beyond the immediate tournament, the collaboration seeks to identify and develop regional talent, providing participants with potential opportunities to advance into the NBA 2K League ecosystem or participate in its official draft. Further details regarding the specific schedule and the concluding World Finals event are expected to be released at a later date.
