Embracer Group
New World Interactive will be integrated into the Saber Interactive operative group.
Embracer Group has acquired New World Interactive to bolster its portfolio of first-person shooter (FPS) specialists and leverage the studio’s potential for AAA-level market performance. This strategic acquisition integrates New World Interactive into the Saber Interactive operative group, aiming to capitalize on the studio’s established premium Games-as-a-Service (GaaS) model. The deal is structured to recoup the total investment within approximately three years, driven by the continued success of existing proprietary titles and the development of new, undisclosed intellectual properties.
New World Interactive brings a proven track record of high-engagement multiplayer combat, evidenced by three proprietary titles that have generated over $50 million in collective revenue and maintained a dedicated fanbase of more than 10 million users. The studio operates with a lean, high-retention team of approximately 48 full-time employees across Denver and Calgary. The acquisition strategy emphasizes geographic expansion, specifically targeting Canada’s robust game development ecosystem. Plans include scaling the Calgary team and establishing a new studio in Montreal to tap into a deep, cost-effective talent pool, with a goal of adding over 50 new staff members.
Operational synergies will be realized through the integration of Saber Interactive’s backend technology, publishing resources, and marketing infrastructure. This partnership facilitates the transition of hit titles to console platforms and enables the internal capture of a larger share of game revenues. By retaining the existing leadership team and supporting the studio’s current operating goals, Embracer Group aims to amplify New World Interactive’s creative output while expanding its cross-platform service capabilities. This move aligns with Embracer’s broader corporate objective of managing a diverse global catalog of franchises through its decentralized network of internal development studios.
