UK Games Fund
These grants are for the development of PC, console, and VR prototypes. This marks the fourth round of funding from the UK Games Fund.
The UK Games Fund has announced the selection of eleven new companies to receive grants for the development of PC, console, and virtual reality projects. This fourth round of funding aims to bolster the early-stage games development ecosystem by providing financial support for prototype creation while fostering a collaborative environment. Recipients are required to engage in peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, a commitment aligned with the broader Creative Industries Sector Deal designed to add value beyond direct capital investment.
The selection process for this cohort was notably competitive, utilizing a new Pitch Development Programme that allowed applicants to self-select their most appropriate funding route. The resulting group represents a significant shift in geographic and demographic distribution. For the first time since the fund’s inception in 2015, no London-based companies were included in the final selection, signaling a broader regional reach across the UK. Furthermore, the cohort achieved a milestone in diversity, with 40% of the project development teams being female-led.
Since its launch in 2015, the UK Games Fund has supported over 90 projects, consistently targeting the growth of the domestic video games sector. The initiative continues to expand its influence through various programs, including the Tranzfuser competition, which currently involves 18 graduate development teams. By prioritizing sustainable business strategies and well-defined unique selling propositions, the fund maintains its focus on nurturing innovative, early-stage creative talent across the country.
