Nihon Falcom
Nihon Falcom’s financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year ending September 2025 reflect a period of significant contraction in both revenue and profitability. Covering the nine-month period from October 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, the company reported total sales of 1,040 million yen, representing an 18.2% decline compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Operating profit fell by 52.6% to 215 million yen, while quarterly net profit dropped by 58.4% to 137 million yen.
The company operates within a single segment focused on game development and sales, which is divided into product and licensing divisions. The product division generated 176 million yen in revenue, a slight decrease of 1.7%, driven by the release of titles such as The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki and various merchandise. The licensing division, which manages international distribution and platform porting for titles like the Ys and Trails series, saw a more substantial decline, with revenue falling 20.9% to 864 million yen.
Despite these results, the company maintains its full-year forecast, anticipating total annual sales of 2,500 million yen and an operating profit of 1,200 million yen. Management attributes the current performance to the timing of product launches, noting that revenue is heavily concentrated in the fourth quarter. Future growth strategies remain focused on expanding the release of new intellectual property and titles across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. While development costs are expected to rise due to these initiatives, the company has not revised its initial full-year guidance.
