The former Toronto Ultra team is now Toronto KOI.
OverActive Media Corp. has officially rebranded its Call of Duty League franchise, formerly known as Toronto Ultra, to Toronto KOI. This strategic shift aims to unify the organization’s North American and European competitive esports operations under a single, globally recognized brand platform. The transition includes a comprehensive overhaul of the team’s digital presence, encompassing a redesigned website, updated social media channels, and a refreshed online store.
The rebranding effort is part of a broader corporate strategy to consolidate the organization's identity, aligning the Toronto-based franchise with its existing KOI and Movistar KOI properties. To support this launch, the organization hosted a local event and announced plans to release new Toronto KOI merchandise in December. Additionally, the team expects to introduce new in-game digital assets for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 title later in the season. Despite the name change, the franchise maintains its existing partnerships with sponsors including Bell, AMD, SCUF Gaming, BLACKLYTE, and Monster Energy.
This development reflects a wider trend within the Call of Duty League, where organizations are increasingly aligning their franchise identities with global branding strategies. While OverActive Media continues to expand its influence through its various esports, influencer marketing, and production divisions, the company has faced recent challenges, such as the loss of a Valorant Champions Tour EMEA partnership. Nevertheless, the transition to Toronto KOI represents a significant effort to leverage a unified brand to deliver long-term value to stakeholders, fans, and partners across international markets.
