Bandai Namco
Bandai Namco Holdings’ financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2015 demonstrate sustained growth, with consolidated net sales reaching 409.176 billion yen, representing an 11% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Operating income also saw a significant rise, totaling 47.639 billion yen, an 11% increase year-over-year. These figures reflect the company’s strong performance across its diversified portfolio, which spans toys and hobby products, content production, and amusement facility operations.
The Toys and Hobby segment emerged as a primary growth driver, generating 179.156 billion yen in sales—a 31% increase over the prior year. This segment benefited heavily from the popularity of specific character franchises, most notably the Yokai Watch series, which contributed 43 billion yen in sales during the nine-month period. Conversely, the Content segment, which includes home video game software and network content, remained relatively stable with 195.924 billion yen in sales, reflecting a slight decline of 1% compared to the previous year.
Geographically, Japan remains the company’s dominant market, accounting for 343.627 billion yen in sales. However, international expansion efforts showed positive momentum, with sales in the Americas and Europe growing by 36% and 16%, respectively. The company’s amusement facility business experienced a slight contraction in same-store sales within Japan, which averaged 91.1% for the third quarter. Despite these regional variations, the overall financial trajectory remains positive, supported by consistent investment in research and development, which totaled 38.480 billion yen for the nine-month period.
