Bill McCullough, an 11-time Emmy Award-winning producer, has transitioned from his role as Executive Vice President of content at FaZe Clan to become the Chief Content Officer for the XFL. This move, officially announced in late December 2022, marks a return to traditional sports media for the veteran producer after a two-year tenure within the esports industry.
During his time at FaZe Clan, McCullough oversaw a diverse portfolio of digital media, including documentaries, scripted series, podcasts, and feature films. Notably, he spearheaded the production of FaZe1, a reality-based talent search competition that featured significant prizes, including $1 million in cryptocurrency, a $250,000 brand partnership with Ghost, and a Nissan GTR. His departure from the publicly traded esports organization in October 2022 preceded his appointment at the XFL, where he is now tasked with leading the league’s comprehensive content strategy, development, and production efforts.
McCullough brings over two decades of industry experience to his new position. His career includes executive roles at major media entities such as HBO, the NFL, GoPro Studios, and GoFundMe. Additionally, he founded Wonderland Productions in 1998, through which he produced content for various networks including ESPN, PBS, and Discovery. This appointment reflects a strategic effort by the XFL to leverage high-level production expertise to enhance its media presence and content output.
