The inaugural Esports World Cup will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 3 to August 25, 2024.
The Esports World Cup Foundation has entered into a strategic partnership with Aramco, the government-owned petroleum and natural gas company, designating the energy firm as a main partner for the inaugural Esports World Cup. This multi-week, multi-discipline competition is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 3 to August 25, 2024. While the specific financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the collaboration marks a significant expansion of Aramco’s previous involvement in Saudi-based gaming initiatives, including prior sponsorships of the Gamers Without Borders charity event and the Gamers8 festival.
A primary component of this partnership is the establishment of the Aramco SIM Arena. This dedicated space will feature high-end racing simulators designed to replicate the experience of driving a Formula 1 vehicle, allowing attendees to participate in community-led tournaments throughout the duration of the event. The integration of this arena underscores the event's focus on interactive fan engagement alongside professional competition.
The Esports World Cup is facilitated by the ESL FACEIT Group, a subsidiary of the Savvy Games Group, which is owned by the Saudi Arabian government’s Public Investment Fund. The tournament features a diverse array of competitive titles, including Call of Duty: Warzone, Dota 2, League of Legends, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. By securing a major state-backed energy partner, the event reinforces the broader strategic efforts of the Saudi government to establish the nation as a central hub for the global esports industry.
