Create free account[Music] I'll have a bunny I'll have a very funny setup so since I was very inspired during my delayed slide and I recreated the presentation fully so you're pretty much in the same position as I as I don't remember what I was to talk about almost hope but then it went in here you hear me if I second like that if you finite okay okay the important thing that I have swag I have box I have pills so for those with very clever questions you'll get that for those without cover questions you'll get that if you catch me after
the talk I wonder what happens if I click the other one if you work domestication so so so so it's the first time I'm PG Connect London and I love this conference everybody is so fresh nobody has been to any game deaf event since and it December so like hey let's do some business let's talk to people you won't get that anymore in the year so and I'm happy to see people here in this room it's 4 p.m. on the second day so can they call yourself survivors thanks for coming survivors and I don't have bullet points though my presentation might sound like it's going to be technical it might be it might feel like that but I work for Paulo spoil so that's a free bonus today um let's get acquainted a
bit so I'm exceeding technologies has been working with the companies since like it was a slow startup of 20 people then went for a year and a half to working games and game inside and then I got a college job title in the world which is kingdom Angeles I think I'm the only person who can both of such a job title I had very I had lots of coffee and were reversing the slides so for some reason I put this random facts in here those are very useful and also I would sure like and I go to spar with that and I thought okay let's let's let's make a small game so for example the joke about here suppose fabric softener can anybody make sense of the joke well you cannot usually you're not
supposed to so let's play sure like a bit if you click a link on this slide you can get a clue and figure out the joke about fabric softener after my talk not during that so in fact I'm talking about a game engine about game technology but all I wanna show today is actually gay we feel that default is as good as games that are made with default are to default dissolvable games we are all about games and in fact default was created as a solution for us at King the great things so everybody from bigger companies knows that well as a game development company one of my games you don't want to make technology as a big company you kind of have to ahead of the industry you have to innovate to have jump on the platform you have to work
whether something that major then agents aren't supporting yet so you create your own engine for each of the game so your 800 games you have hundred game engines that actually are different you're operating hungry games and maintaining hardly game engines how fun is that so it's not fun that's it I'm sharing with you and we decided to should like to create something recall a common stacked like some shared engine between between this between the Kings and share it with the world and that a screen shows from some of the things that race that use a default one of that is a king game can you find it can you find the king game here everybody else is all the other creatures are from indicate so before good ugly class GDP it's less than a
year we have more than 30 games released by in the community and let's walk through some of the games and just say okay so who uses that and why I also talk about what we're doing in year 2000 2017 this is this year for those who is also celebrating so that's the finished video and if they just released this game Iran from a softlock in fact they're here on the floor or on the first floor you can find them talk to them ask about the default experience they just released so I wanted to have this slide first they're using other the images as well but like they just try to fall they sound like okay that it's not just work for us this game is for mobiles but html5 is so easy there are also like
have html5 built cool and they have a few other games with default in the pipeline this is a studio from this area they don't have a boost but they have a glare I left a high the this studio actually also does outsourcing sort of to agree about that we actually also stuff to them and they're good can confirm that so now they have dedicated you need to default they're working and like this is their flagship default title before that that was a unique studio the cool thing about this game that will liked it so much who actually helped them with the after lunch so like we share something tragic with them in in an isolated environment
to Susan's like so they test how their game works and then we help a bit with an introduction further for them so they're working on a facebooking some games title this is what we do with some of the teams who kind of like we feel they're doing right we have you know some connections and power and traffic and that's what we share this is again and now let's let's let's make it continue confusing so this game is made by a small team from a city of Minsk how many people in this audience know what country means is in one okay this is not funny as this would be funny yeah I prepared the joke about European capital and all that yeah so you know that okay okay I prepared a funny joke I said so this is a flash studio-x very first well
flash developers who had this technology like from top to the bottom from side to side and then they tried to fold and it was like a void that's what was nice well we'll going that's what we're switching they became like super fanboys of default started all kind of you know Russian user groups on onrushing Facebook's and all that and they're very good about that they're also working on infant games on html5 but this is a very mobile title and this is something very interesting this is the studio from Moscow and those are extra play depth you know like those who had been working on titles like sky flourish with CryEngine and then like okay now I want to do something on my own so they started this game with
default and this might be the first default game on own on the skin and actually they wanted to release it on mobiles but then the game grew and then okay maybe less release and html5 and then the game grew and then they were like okay this like we ended up with a very hardcore Indic title let's release it for for first thing and that's what they're working on now and they also became like super friend boys and like started working on tutorials and other stuff sharing with the community and we ended up actually contracting them for on the sort of things and that's totally different case occasionally we run competitions and you know what prizes and the this will be so the team from Montenegro and they were like okay let's let's see let's try try out the Asian
and see what we can do with that and they created this and immediately launched it on Android on html5 and want the competition actually and they were like okay let's let's let's see what can we do with engine and then they ended up with a fully fledged game and having fun and positive experience so we witnessed a conversion from someone who didn't care about default to someone who actually fell in love with it and we have more we have like put engine Venice that has been quickly available for less than a year we have 30-plus titles so what how close that in fact what we launched last GDC we thought like okay let's see if actually anybody cares if actually anybody has the same problems that with default of the technology that we're solving the problems that we have in this were using to respec games the way
we have reference them and being from being King has to you know to cater to people in China to people in South America to people in India and those people you know have like low-end devices however we want to deliver the best experience possible as the games at launch fast work fast levels load fast and the games work smoothly and all this Beca stuff and all that does do indie developers care about that and in fact we'll figure out they actually do and they enjoy that and in year 2017 this GDC exactly a year after the public launch we're talking about like okay we belief the world MS o technology which is what we're doing now before I talk about that I want to show
a very important slide I'm talking about default how cool default like everybody loves default but I'm not converting with the phone in fact I'm talking I'm telling exactly opposite I'd say like feel free to try she feels pretty seat we have a very high like entry barrier and this is by design we want people who understand why are they using default it's not the tool for everyone it's not the like a generic depth of tool there are engines designed for you know I want to create a game I want the process default is a tool to release games not the create game it still the editor is still you know the runtime is still like the whole engine thing but the goal is
not the process but the result now we have a competition we going to bring six things to GDC we're going to fly them we can accommodate them we actually paid for the booth for them they're like you know counts like flies accommodation with wow that's a huge budget well working oh no no thank you no thanks here yeah no so let's I have it's funny is like blinking in red just like shut up shut up no I won't I have yeah so we're announcing and things that will be actually useful to default users since we believe the industry needs default at this moment there isn't that so we we are releasing
and showing at GDC the slam like M runtime extension and default SDK and also the cloud built for C++ extensions so that you can plug in this small and nice before Anton into whatever you want if you're wanting physicist and you have you know like Fortran library and want to kind of display something well plug it into default and you find or if you want to attach some very fancy animation platforms like you'll find if you want to strip out our physics library and plug in your own you'll find do that also we're sure releasing the new editor for those new high default users in this room we have one so this guy enjoys default editor which is a high from 1991 right edit so we're leaving you one
which is actually nice and has extensions so you can customize it the way you want the way you team wants with that I mean like we get people who are going to extend the editor in their own time and do the plugins and just libraries will do what are they going to do next we'll share that so we're announcing and showing in a religion in that sequence a kind of just look imagine that what you have like the same place you use to share the progress of your game as html5 is kind of native citizen in default you just give the button even if you're working on a mobile game you clearly you click the button you have html5 version you share that with in the deadlock and people browse that and see that and play your game in certain immediately in the browser it all just works and this is
also where you share your extensions and libraries and everybody and this is just works nice and what does mean if someone shares the library maybe they want to sell that well maybe we just feel that we're not doing an Assessor we're doing this community thing so people who share from Ghana share that stuff will be able to get hundred percent of revenue for that well we're very fun with that also am concept on life updates it's a long shot but we're almost there we should be there GDC because like we have a talk and a demo of that so we have to deliver there it is the to publish your games you know Android iOS html5 and then you know there is a pumpkin day or a Christmas Day and then you have to create a to update you're content with pumpkins or you know the green guys or ladies that you update
one the content which is on the cloud and the game clients like the content is shared across different platforms so the same content is shared between iOS android and html5 that's what will be local it's like updates and it's much more to that but I don't have time for it and also we're announcing the first major partnership I won't spoil the secret but is groundbreaking I'm telling you now we have 40 47 seconds for questions and I have this you want to earn that right otherwise you'll have to catch me and smuggle the stuff anyway
any question yes that's exactly how it works you can ask about the weather that works well fabric softener you should and pom pom pom pom pom pom you should play Sherlock click a link on this slide that you grab the joke about fabric softener come on watch Sherlock or get inspired like from from from the term it's very easy come on how there is a single link on the slide you don't you don't need to underline the link to delete the link I mean this is easy I trust in you I believe you it is it's so easy I guess that's there there's an emotion
I mean like just check my Twitter I catch people [Music] you
King’s Defold game engine serves as a specialized development solution designed to address the challenges of multi-platform game deployment, particularly for developers targeting mobile and HTML5 markets. Originally developed as an internal tool to streamline King’s own production pipeline, the engine was released to the public to provide a unified, efficient stack that prioritizes performance, fast load times, and cross-platform compatibility. The engine is positioned not as a generic tool for all developers, but as a high-performance solution for those focused on the final release and distribution of their games.
Since its public launch, the engine has seen significant adoption, with over 30 titles released by the independent community within the first year. Case studies highlight a diverse range of users, including former Flash developers, outsourcing studios, and teams transitioning from high-end engines like CryEngine. These developers often report a positive shift in their workflow, citing the engine’s seamless ability to export mobile titles to HTML5 and its capacity to handle complex, hardcore game projects.
The engine’s development roadmap for 2017 focuses on expanding its ecosystem through a new, customizable editor and enhanced extensibility. Key technical updates include the introduction of C++ extensions, cloud build support, and a runtime extension system that allows developers to integrate third-party libraries or replace core components like physics engines. Furthermore, the platform is evolving to support live content updates, enabling developers to push assets to multiple platforms simultaneously from the cloud. By fostering a community-driven marketplace where developers retain full revenue from shared libraries and plugins, the engine aims to solidify its role as a robust, flexible infrastructure for independent studios navigating the complexities of modern cross-platform game development.
