The teams will compete under the Weibo Gaming brand.
Weibo Gaming has entered into strategic partnerships with two prominent Chinese esports organizations, Xtreme Gaming and DKZ, to bolster its competitive presence at the upcoming Esports World Cup in Riyadh. Under the terms of the agreement, the Dota 2 team Xtreme Gaming will rebrand to WBG.XG, while the StarCraft II team DKZ will be integrated as the official StarCraft II division of Weibo Gaming. Although the financial details of these arrangements remain undisclosed, the move aligns with Weibo Gaming’s participation in the Esports World Cup Club Support Program.
The partnership focuses on securing high-performing talent to compete in the tournament’s various disciplines. Xtreme Gaming is currently recognized as a top-tier Dota 2 squad in China and has qualified for the event’s $5 million USD Dota 2 competition. Similarly, the inclusion of DKZ brings significant competitive value, as the team manages Li “Oliveira” Peinan, a world-champion StarCraft II player, and South Korean competitor Kim “herO” Joon-ho.
These developments reflect a broader trend of Chinese organizations consolidating resources to maximize their impact on the international stage. Beyond these confirmed deals, reports indicate that Weibo Gaming is actively pursuing further talent acquisitions, including potential interest in Peacekeeper Elite player Zhu “Paraboy” Bocheng, to strengthen its roster for the Esports World Cup. This strategic expansion highlights the organization's commitment to maintaining a competitive edge across multiple gaming titles within the global esports ecosystem.
